I knew this was the case the second it came out. This is why i doubted Lab putters at first. I owned the Axis1 Joey putter and I pulled putts all the time. It’s because it closes hard at impact in the revealer. If you are going to make a Zero Torque putter, the shaft MUST be center shafted. You can’t have it all bendy or a weird shaped hosel, otherwise it will close hard at impact. Lab is the only company that makes Lie Angle Balance putters.

Thanks for your attempt on an objective comparison, as an engineer this intrigues me. I would that there is really nothing like a true 0 torque putter, it would be theoretically impossible to achieve, I assume you just try to get as close as possible. But isn't your weighting to compensate for the momentum dependant on the lie angle? Would you have seen the same behaviour of the PXG putter if you played around with holding it in different lie angles? I, personally is in the stage of dreaming of a lab putter, they feel amazing but is out budget for now.

I see a lot of comments on LAB and the Allan from golfers who have tried neither, which s not very informative for anyone. I have had both, the MEZZ and i now have the Allan putter, so i have hands on experience for both. The MEZZ i struggled with especially distance control which is normally a strength of mine. It was good from 10 feet and in, but didnt notice any real improvement from my EVNROLL gamer. I kept it about a month and moved it on. I have now had the Allan for a few weeks and can honestly say i have never puttered as well, both distance control and holing out. Im a 6 handicapper but have always felt i should hole more 6-10 footers, and with the Allan i have. Just played today and Arccos had me as +6.4 strokes gained putting, 26 putts and holed everything inside 10 feet and a couple longer ones. I dont care who has the best zero torque putter or how they achieve it. All i know is this putter feels incredibly stable and it doesnt work against you natural path, its a funny feeling but it just works and has improved my putting. Im sure the LAB putters are equally as good, but for me i didnt get on with it.
@samhahn69504 ай бұрын
Yeah distance control can be a thing with our stuff at first because of the ACTUAL absence of torque. Not saying that to be snarky but its a reality of physics and its effect on bio mechanics. Quite easy fixes if you'd ever like to try again. Hit me up anytime. Glad you are enjoying your new putter. Generally when we balance putters like the PXG (we do sometimes upon special request) people end up pulling putts after the honeymoon as you see with Backstryke or Axis 1. And FWIW, the only reason I have bothered to engage is their marketing claims which any way you cut it, are false. Its not a zero torque putter and if they'd simply offered it as what it is and talked about the benefits of toe up putters that open and then close, have at it. But they are being pretty deliberate about using our language and even using a very skewed device to justify using the language. Doesn't sit great with me...

Squared to the path at all time, I get it. But is it a real issue in putting? When one holds the club, unless with certain manipulations, the face should ALREADY stay squared to the path. Please correct me if I am wrong on this, because it's simply physics.
@brandonlambert15863 ай бұрын
Face closure rate and face angle at impact can be a huge deal on putts from 10-15 ft and longer for high level players. Making 1-2 more per round can be the difference between winning and losing. The thought behind zero torque is that there won't be weight offset from the shaft line and the arc it produces, thus your hands won't have to counteract the moment (torque) made by that weight (usually toe weight) when in motion. The amount of weight in putters is so small that this torque might only produce a face that is 0.1* off but for a pro that can be a variable they just don't want to see. As you say above if you hold it tight enough it shouldn't move, similar to something needing enough force applied to break sliding friction resistance. I'm sure if you wanted to see the real impact on the stroke you could add a bunch of steel (a whole lb) to the toe of a putter and swing it to get an amplified version of what toe hang is doing and why LAB is trying to eliminate it.

I do believe the zero torque tech, I don’t think that’s a sham. HOWEVER, my biggest question on “the revealer” is that it just hangs those putters in space with zero pressure on the grip….i know you all promote light grip pressure, but as soon as a golfer takes a normal grip, even with light grip pressure, doesn’t that pretty much negate what the revealer is showing? Nobody puts zero force on the putter grip, nobody. Curious on that ! Thx!

I can’t speak to you feel it. Ames left, though he might mess around with ball position and shaft lean. Maybe lean the shaft a touch more towards the target and it might set up better. @rmmst494 ай бұрын
but the pxg forces you to counteract the rotational forces that the putter generates every swing you take. more power to you if the eye issue takes precedence over that.
@thrillhill99253 ай бұрын
@@rmmst49 I appreciate the info. I have used the same putter for 9 years so switching was a big move for me. I tested both and they each seem like great putters. I am more about feel and looks and the Allen just suited my eye better and had the feel I was looking for. I am putting great with the PXG. As for the "forces" i could not tell a difference.......science may favor the LAB but not sure there is enough difference for me to notice

Hey Jonathan, Unfortunately, we have had to move away from selling/servicing putters with the BGT stability shaft. We just cannot get this shaft to balance with our newer models. For this reason, we are unable to build you a new DF3 with this shaft. We are working on a trade in program, and should have the details in a few weeks. If you'd like to reach out around then, we may be able to offer you trade in credit for your DF 2.1 which you can use to buy a new DF3. Louis Rizzo Outlet, Warranties, & Special Requests L.A.B. Has the Odyssey 2016 Toe Up putter been tested in the Revealer?

Does the angle of the shaft and the grip not benefit from the way your revealer is setup? In simple terms, if I put something on an angle, it will have less movement already to begin with against two anchor points which are located in a straight line?
@samhahn69504 ай бұрын
No impact. The putters are balanced on the shaft axis.

Seems like this is good for the market. LAB seems to be market leader in lie angle balancing but maybe it will push them to adopt innovations from competitors (face inserts, shapes, etc). A playing partner had one at my last time at the course. Color me impressed. The lie balancing clearly works but it seemed like it takes a lot of effort to move longer putts (which scares me as an admittedly terrible lag putter).

I have an armlock Mezz. At first I left a ton of long putts short because I learned I was using my wrists to add a little extra power with my old putter. Minor adjustment to the length of my stroke took care of it. If you do go LAB, you gotta give it a solid five rounds. I thought I wasted my money for the first two rounds but then it kinda clicked for me to just swing it. Don't manipulate the face, don't overthink, just swing. And if you do that, it's amazing.

I actually prefer to have a little bit of resistance against the swivel on my putts. helps me feel the putt better. I probably wouldn't putt well with a LAB
@samhahn69503 ай бұрын
I thought the same thing when I first started using it, but the adjustment period is pretty short and what’s left is the ability to just focus on a target rather than managing or reacting to the instrument

I want to try a DF3, but am no where near a place that I can test out different styles, lengths, etc. Can I use current putter specs for a LAB? Say I find one for a decent price and want to cut it from 35 to 33.5, will that mess up it's balance?
@canyonaro4 ай бұрын
Cutting it should be ok. Changing the grip might not be. btw you can send to LAB and they'll rebalance it for you I think for $100.

Does a person have to get fitted for the LAB putter to work? If so are there fitters all over the US? Or, can you just buy one off the rack, of course whenever you can find one.
@samhahn69503 ай бұрын
If the putter lays down flush without a fight, you’re likely good to go but always good to get fit. We offer a remote fitting through the website that’s super easy and extremely accurate.

could you compare lab to axis1 putters? That would be very interesting, since they claim the labs are only lie angle balanced due to the longer revealer... which you seem to disprove with the shorter revealer...

If you search "axis 1 torque revolution" you'll see it but it performs exactly as the allan does.

Do you have some sort of guide to working out what loft, lie and length are best. The closest retailer to me is a 50 mile drive and they want £100 to fit me. If I'm spending £500 on a putter that is meant to be customised, I feel like the retailer owes me a fitting as that should be included in the price (lets be honest, it's a sales meeting).

If you use our remote fitting process, you can get answers to all these questions. Click on the button for fitting at the top of the homepage and you'll see the instructions
