👏 L.A.B. Golf clearly isn’t just out to compete-they’re here to educate and elevate. Watching Sam test the PXG Allen in The Revealer shows how L.A.B. prioritizes transparency and innovation in a way that benefits all golfers. A rising tide floats all ships, and this level of openness only strengthens the entire putting industry. Hats off to you, L.A.B., for setting a great example and advancing the game. I was on the fence, but now I’ve got one on order!

The only 3rd party data I’ve seen testing both putters using robotics showed the Allen performing slightly more consistently in terms of line and distance, but lab is cool too

The fact that a 3rd party said the PXG performed slightly better? Ya hard to argue against data. 😂 you also can’t forget the eye test. Only a blind person would pick a lab over a PXG. Good news though, a couple other companies are coming out with their own putters as well for you blowhards to argue over.

Awesome comparison. My custom fit DF3 is by far the best putter I’ve ever used in over 30 years of golfing. It’s all about the lie angle. When a LAB is custom fit for your lie angle you can FEEL and know there is no twisting needed to get the face square to the target line. I haven’t rolled a pxg Allen but based on this video it’s clear to me the Allen has torque. I’m happy with my DF3 and this one will be in my bag forever

With what little time I have, putting gets at least 50% and I value that time over anything else. Just went for my 5 yearly putter fit and low and behold........... A LAB LINK putter for me. 1st time i've ever seen one and 1st time putting with anything center shafted. It's good to keep an open mind when going to a fitting. LAB's arent for every putting stroke, but mine seemed to benefit immediately. Sam, don’t forget they say imitation is the greatest form of compliment. Noting Odyssey has also just dropped their (off the shelf) Square 2 Square line up to respond to the burgeoning Tour interest in LAB zero torque physics 😅. However, for big brands to release a zero torque product line, only serves to diminish all earlier marketing hype about the accuracy of their numerous traditional putter lines (face balance and toe hang). You either believe in the physics or not. Good job Sam and the Lab Rats❤

I knew this was the case the second it came out. This is why i doubted Lab putters at first. I owned the Axis1 Joey putter and I pulled putts all the time. It’s because it closes hard at impact in the revealer. If you are going to make a Zero Torque putter, the shaft MUST be center shafted. You can’t have it all bendy or a weird shaped hosel, otherwise it will close hard at impact. Lab is the only company that makes Lie Angle Balance putters.

Thanks for your attempt on an objective comparison, as an engineer this intrigues me. I would that there is really nothing like a true 0 torque putter, it would be theoretically impossible to achieve, I assume you just try to get as close as possible. But isn't your weighting to compensate for the momentum dependant on the lie angle? Would you have seen the same behaviour of the PXG putter if you played around with holding it in different lie angles? I, personally is in the stage of dreaming of a lab putter, they feel amazing but is out budget for now.

I see a lot of comments on LAB and the Allan from golfers who have tried neither, which s not very informative for anyone. I have had both, the MEZZ and i now have the Allan putter, so i have hands on experience for both. The MEZZ i struggled with especially distance control which is normally a strength of mine. It was good from 10 feet and in, but didnt notice any real improvement from my EVNROLL gamer. I kept it about a month and moved it on. I have now had the Allan for a few weeks and can honestly say i have never puttered as well, both distance control and holing out. Im a 6 handicapper but have always felt i should hole more 6-10 footers, and with the Allan i have. Just played today and Arccos had me as +6.4 strokes gained putting, 26 putts and holed everything inside 10 feet and a couple longer ones. I dont care who has the best zero torque putter or how they achieve it. All i know is this putter feels incredibly stable and it doesnt work against you natural path, its a funny feeling but it just works and has improved my putting. Im sure the LAB putters are equally as good, but for me i didnt get on with it.
@samhahn6950
@samhahn6950 4 ай бұрын
Yeah distance control can be a thing with our stuff at first because of the ACTUAL absence of torque. Not saying that to be snarky but its a reality of physics and its effect on bio mechanics. Quite easy fixes if you'd ever like to try again. Hit me up anytime. Glad you are enjoying your new putter. Generally when we balance putters like the PXG (we do sometimes upon special request) people end up pulling putts after the honeymoon as you see with Backstryke or Axis 1. And FWIW, the only reason I have bothered to engage is their marketing claims which any way you cut it, are false. Its not a zero torque putter and if they'd simply offered it as what it is and talked about the benefits of toe up putters that open and then close, have at it. But they are being pretty deliberate about using our language and even using a very skewed device to justify using the language. Doesn't sit great with me...

Squared to the path at all time, I get it. But is it a real issue in putting? When one holds the club, unless with certain manipulations, the face should ALREADY stay squared to the path. Please correct me if I am wrong on this, because it's simply physics.
@brandonlambert1586
@brandonlambert1586 3 ай бұрын
Face closure rate and face angle at impact can be a huge deal on putts from 10-15 ft and longer for high level players. Making 1-2 more per round can be the difference between winning and losing. The thought behind zero torque is that there won't be weight offset from the shaft line and the arc it produces, thus your hands won't have to counteract the moment (torque) made by that weight (usually toe weight) when in motion. The amount of weight in putters is so small that this torque might only produce a face that is 0.1* off but for a pro that can be a variable they just don't want to see. As you say above if you hold it tight enough it shouldn't move, similar to something needing enough force applied to break sliding friction resistance. I'm sure if you wanted to see the real impact on the stroke you could add a bunch of steel (a whole lb) to the toe of a putter and swing it to get an amplified version of what toe hang is doing and why LAB is trying to eliminate it.

If you were to adjust that crossbar to each putters balance point, would it in turn change the outcome for the head movement?

Yes, you’re right. Additionally the opening and closing seems to get worse as the swing is repeated over and over, which doesn’t take place on a real putt. After reading your comment I went back and looked more closely. The putter doesn’t seem to stay square to the swing path at all.

There you go. LAB is still reigning and Sam the OG! After being remotely fitted one year ago I keep being in love my Mezz1. Only tiny problem would be the paint job with all these razor-like edges, I have specs of aluminum showing through the 'Adam Scott 2023' blue, but with these edges I am pretty sure it can't be helped. Must leave headcover on at all times while in the bag, I found that out after round #1. But to be fair, I have never owned a putter where the paint held on even if it had all rounded edges. An old TM Spider (DLL) I passed down to a fried is looking like a wounded zebra these days.

Why doesn’t it twist in the tubular revealers?
@samhahn6950
@samhahn6950 4 ай бұрын
Because the notch that supports the putter at the bottom is pinching the shaft just enough to make it not move. However, I’m told by some who’ve actually used it that as soon as you get over 15 or 20 feet, it does start to move. In ours it moves instantly.

@samhahn6950 longtime user of DF 2.1 and DF3. I don’t buy LAB putters because I think they will magically make every 8’ putt, but I love the feel and roll they give the ball. I do believe the zero torque tech, I don’t think that’s a sham. HOWEVER, my biggest question on “the revealer” is that it just hangs those putters in space with zero pressure on the grip….i know you all promote light grip pressure, but as soon as a golfer takes a normal grip, even with light grip pressure, doesn’t that pretty much negate what the revealer is showing? Nobody puts zero force on the putter grip, nobody. Curious on that ! Thx!

Hi, Sam. Just got a df3. Why do I feel the putter aims left (right handed golfer) and the ball always misses left on a straight putt?
@samhahn6950
@samhahn6950 4 ай бұрын
I can’t speak to you feel it. Ames left, though he might mess around with ball position and shaft lean. Maybe lean the shaft a touch more towards the target and it might set up better. But you are likely missing left because your aimed left! Might seem strange, but it’s actually a good thing to have such a single miss. Singular miss means singular fix!

Hey Jonathan, Unfortunately, we have had to move away from selling/servicing putters with the BGT stability shaft. We just cannot get this shaft to balance with our newer models. For this reason, we are unable to build you a new DF3 with this shaft. We are working on a trade in program, and should have the details in a few weeks. If you'd like to reach out around then, we may be able to offer you trade in credit for your DF 2.1 which you can use to buy a new DF3. Louis Rizzo Outlet, Warranties, & Special Requests L.A.B. Seems like this is good for the market. LAB seems to be market leader in lie angle balancing but maybe it will push them to adopt innovations from competitors (face inserts, shapes, etc). A playing partner had one at my last time at the course. Color me impressed. The lie balancing clearly works but it seemed like it takes a lot of effort to move longer putts (which scares me as an admittedly terrible lag putter).

I have an armlock Mezz. At first I left a ton of long putts short because I learned I was using my wrists to add a little extra power with my old putter. Minor adjustment to the length of my stroke took care of it. If you do go LAB, you gotta give it a solid five rounds. I thought I wasted my money for the first two rounds but then it kinda clicked for me to just swing it. Don't manipulate the face, don't overthink, just swing. And if you do that, it's amazing.

Do you have some sort of guide to working out what loft, lie and length are best. The closest retailer to me is a 50 mile drive and they want £100 to fit me. If I'm spending £500 on a putter that is meant to be customised, I feel like the retailer owes me a fitting as that should be included in the price (lets be honest, it's a sales meeting).
