Pyotr Velikiy - Full Build 1/700 Scale Model Battlecruiser

How to build Peter the Great (Pyotr Velikiy) Kirov class battlecruiser (battleship) diorama at sea.....700 times smaller than the actual ship. This model is fully painted and includes a sea sculpted out of foam and aluminum foil. Originally designed for the Soviet Union and laid down in 1986, she was not commissioned until 1998 and remains in service in 2024.

This looks great! I would be too intimidated by the PE to even try half of what you did! Any tips for someone who might want to try a ship? I’ve been building mainly armour for the past 3/4 years, so I’m wondering where and how I should start.

Thank you! Start with a good brand/kit that fits together well and looks nice without a bunch of extras. Ive been impressed with Flyhawk and Fujimi is nice too (reasonably priced as well). Flyhawk Deluxe level kits come with all the photo etch so thats helpful. Build the superstructure separate from the deck/hull and attach them later in the build. That will make it easier to paint the deck versus the grey superstructure. Aside from that, the plastic glues together just like an armor model so just pick a ship and give it a shot!
