@@callumsmodellingcentre6902 Yep its still in good condition and laying flat. You could always use a little super glue on the edges for extra insurance. I might have done that....cant recall lol

Hey, just a heads up, Tamiya of Brazil used your video and didnt credit you. Not sure if this was something you allowed them to do or not. I was watching it and it felt familiar and sure enough its because ive watched your original video first

Curious why you built that with the fussy probes, antenna etc before painting.

I would do it differently today, but at the time, I wanted to ensure there were no glue marks or damaging of the paint finish

Awesome work! Could you describe a bit how you moved the IRST to the middle?
@ScaleModelAssassin2 ай бұрын
👍I started with gluing the cockpit windshield in place and masking it (youll need some minor modifications to any precut mask since the IRST will run straight up the windshield). Then I puttied and sanded the divot that the kit had for the side mounted IRST probe. Next I took the IRST part from the kit and sliced some plastic off so it mounted better in the middle as opposed to the side....i.e. it was more symmetrical. It wasnt perfect but I glued it in place in the center of the windscreen, then puttied/sanded around the edges to make it flush and hide the imperfections. Its a bit tedious and took a few rounds of putty/sanding to make it look natural. All of this was done during the priming step of painting and before i added any color. Finally, at the very end, the clear piece will need to be sliced across the bottom and painted a smoky color (see 9:37 in the video).
@DanijelMaodus2 ай бұрын
@ScaleModelAssassin Thank you, with your help I'll be better prepared for the job when the time comes. Trumpeter has an earlier Su-27 with IRST placed centrally, but it seems Zvezda's model is better so I'll stick with it.

Cracking job! How do you remove the edge of paint you get when removing the masking tape?
@ScaleModelAssassin2 ай бұрын
👍Micromesh sanding cloth and a gloss coat. very lightly sand with a cloth, then spray the area with the gloss coat, then lightly wet sand it more with the sanding cloth. You might need to repeat this process a few times (which I did on this model). Ideally though, with a thin enough paint coat / tape edge you shouldnt need to do this....but sometimes things dont work out perfectly,.
