The footstool sound effect with no tech chase happens because you footstool too early. Wait a bit longer and you'll get it. And if they've been pushed slightly more away (like when you side b from afar), run a bit further before foostooling as they're not at the same spot within the wheel as usual.

im not even trying to do that im constantly teaching things that i think are competitively important, it varies on the characters, there's counterplay, there's counterplay to the counterplay, my conclusions on why it's still worth learning etc, frame data which helps paint the big picture (i try to learn this to know the facts and theorycraft), it's not just long for no reason

I tested it a bunch here are my results ; Works every time: ROB, Mewtwo, Wolf, Sonic, Yoshi, Incineroar, Bowser, Pyra, Joker, Young Link, Pikachu, Inkling, Dedede, King K Rool, Donkey Kong, Ganondorf, Villager, MinMin, Kirby 50/50 (You SOMETIMES get the footstool Sound but no techchase): Mario, Steve Straightup doesn't work the second time: Sheik, Lucina/Marth, Isabelle Doesn't even work once: ZSS, Palutena, Greninja, Falco, Fox, captain falcon

the footstool at 17:00 is different because the opponent is technically grounded so it’s doing a grounded footstool, which doesn’t put you in a jab lock / tech chase scenario

Instead of airdodging downward, you can instead down B into mythra, which stops your momentum. You would obviously have to end the combo or go for something else if you were to down B but it’s a good mixup and could be useful against a characters that are much harder to do the infinite on

in the situation where it pulls them further away (6:45) you can actually get that consistent its just a different timing. basically you just short hop to right above their head and a little bit to the right then hold jump just as the sword stops spinning and you should get it every time (requires some spacing but its not that bad after a while Ive been able to get it 9 times out of ten and im not even in elite smash lol)

A tip for people trying to do this, and if you cant get the timing for the jump down, you can short hop twice in a row to burn both your jumps and just mash jump to buffer a footstool the second they get launched and the second you hear the footstool sound air dodge down

I think the reason you can't do the loops is because of the first hit not hitting, but you can loop without that hit, you have to fast fall stool and air dodge, which will work on smaller characters.

Ganon side B is one of the most predictable moves where you need to tech in the entire game, and it still took me forever to figure out the timing for teching it. Maybe i'm just bad though xd

This is going to be great for the 1% of the time that I can correctly toadstool. He makes it look so easy, but man is it really hard to get the timing right. There is another toadstool sexy combo: Mythra + downtilt sweet spot + toadstool + pyra transform + down tilt + up smash. It will make you look god-like if you can actually pull it off.

I think to balance this sakurai will make side b have more knockback and end faster to not let pyra footstool. That's what I think. Since it is his waifu he wouldn't nerf her but not buff her too much either, imo. I got a cool footstool combo though. I rarely use it, but I guess I should learn. Thanks m2k!

Probably increased knockback or a short 1s invulnerability after the last hit I guess. Something just enough to prevent people from abusing this but still able to pull off normal combos with standard gameplay.

From what I tested I doesn’t work on Fox, you can’t jab him after the sede-b.

Can someone explain how to do the different length pyra side b’s? I’ve tried stuff like holding b, moving the stick etc but the distance seems to be the same

Haven’t seen it yet but I was experimenting with side b footstool to jablock setup to upb, dash attack or dtilt kill confirm . If this is what I was theory crafting I will be pumped

Technically yeah but as he said if you hit them with anything but the first hit (which happens if they'll roll) they don't get launched up as much so it may not work, or at least not the same way.

It's like Palutenas Explosive flame or Samus Missile. If you press forward and B at the same time (like a smash) it goes further and if you do it slower it stops closer.

At least on Ganon, if I air dodge down while he's on the ground being hit, I always end up on the starting side. If side B drags him into the air, it's very easy to drift to the opposite side. If both characters are on the ground, and you're not directly next to them, the first side B is always grounded, and if you jab to side B again, the second is always in the air. Again Ganon at least.
