Black girl here💁🏾‍♀️. Love the podcast guys☺️. Me personally(make sure to digest that part before responding to me) I'm against other races using the word. Even I slow down on using it especially when around friends of other races. I know it's a word that has been used ambiguously. However, that doesn't negate the origination of the word which was ment to oppress. Some may say, well that was back in the day...some of us still have grandparents who remember back then way to well, or even what has happened with police brutality and more. Yes, we have to lead by example, and you cant control everyone, but the word packs history. Not a kind one. Anywho, thank y'all for an amazing show, hopeful to see you guys live one day ✨holding hope to see y'all near NC✨

Love the podcast🥰 I'm Black🤙🏾 and as a military kid I've lived in diverse areas and pw areas and no matter where I lived I never felt comfortable hearing non black folks say it but if they were bipoc I use to let that shit slide. My ex who's Asian thought it was fine to say it because he was with me and had some black friends even though we had the conversation before hand and I had to check him on it. Idk it just makes me feel so uncomfortable and honestly unsafe around the non black folks who use it. There's such a deeply rooted negative history surrounding it and the people who use it aren't the people it was used against so it feels like a jab even if they don't mean for it to be. 😮‍💨

I’m a 43 year old black Jamaican man. I moved from New York (Bronx) to Atlanta back in 2006 growing up in New York, most people in my circle used it but there was a clear demarcation of who could and would use it. While growing up in New York that change when rap music started to blow up. I just remember in college when I started being in close proximity to white kids from Long Island and Asia kids from Queens using it. There was a time in New York where fights would break out for people using it. That word has gone through so many phases. I’m trying myself not to say it but it rolls so easily off the tongue. 😆

Born and raised in the South, and the nigga pass was not happening in school, maybe on certain blocks, but definitely not in middle or high school. I think it was a different culture for y'all in Cali. I don't think anyone should feel comfortable using the word if they aren't the target of the word when it's used negatively. I think the "it's just a word" argument is BS, but I also know I can't control other people's language. If you're not black and you just HAVE to use that word at least check with the black folk near you to make sure they aren't offended. I've told multiple peers that they can say whatever they want, but if they're around me, not to use that word.

As a black person, I'm offended if you say it and you're not black given what the word represents for black people. People that say "Oh you have a pass" are setting yall up. Just because they're not offended, doesn't mean every other black person isn't. Doesn't matter if it's ga or er even though er is much more intentional.

Personally I feel like if you gone use the word to my face and I actively ask you not to then you’re just not respecting me and I simply won’t be around you anymore. Whether you tryna be familial or just being disrespectful doesn’t matter. Now if you use the word privately or with other black people that are cool with that is none of my business and I really don’t give a fuck. Yeah you’d be cooler if you didn’t, but I’m not finna overwatch what u do in your time not around me. It’s a respect thing overall for my culture but also for me personally as yo friend Big respect to Tim for respecting the people around you/seeing their discomfort and choosing not to use the word. Really appreciate that as a younger black dude🤝

And if I were try again I would get beef instead of goat, the goat wasn't soft and difficult to chew. But I had a piece of beef in the other egusi and THAT piece was DELICIOUS! Also the malt drink was fire.

As someone who was born and raised in toronto 42 years ago, i can tell you, some guys, usually white guys, had that twang for some reason. But it was light, and just came out funny once in a while. And yeah, we used to clown em when it came out like that. But all of a sudden, all the kids are just taking it too far. It sounds dumb. Listen to Kardinal's tune 'bacardi slang'. That how we talked back then. Better still, watch an interview of him or something.

Red light district in Korea is actually real and not just love hotels. Kind of like Amsterdam but sadder looking. A street block of small rooms with windows facing the alley with a woman in each room just standing or sitting there. Almost felt like a human zoo. Of course a bunch of them will pop out and try to call you over. I think a lot of them are trafficked though. 😢

It's never an automatic hands response when other races say it, unless it's the hard ER and/or being used in a derogative way. Personally, I don't like when other races use it and I will never understand the obsession that some people have with wanting to say that word (not saying that's what y'all are doing). I don't use it often myself and I try not to use it at all around other non black people because I don't want them to think they can say it.

Imagine being called a racial slur for centuries, then calling themselves that and being proud of it. When other people use it the same way as them because of how influential their culture is, they get sensitive about it. And when they hear words from other languages that have similar pronunciation, but don't even mean what they think it does, they get upset enough to get people fired from their jobs. When the orgin of the word just means Black in latin. Now that is what I call ENTITLEMENT.
