Have you read Doug Adams? You might recognize some of the story elements from a few Doctor who episodes around the Tom Baker time, but he was my first love. Pratchett got me when I realized that they both had a very similar writing style. Adams only has a handful of books comparatively, but if you like Pterry you'll probably like Adams

I have read Douglas Adams, I've read the entire Hitchhiker's Guide series! Yes, they do have similar styles! Great series!

Unfortunately I haven't read Pyramids so I can't comment on this one, but it looks as though they have saved Notre Dame cathedral, which is wonderful news! The roof is gone and the spire is gone, but the main body of the building is still standing and - most importantly of all - nobody was hurt. That sounds like a good result to me. :) Something good is going to come out of this. They'll rebuild the spire, and the opening ceremony afterwards will be a really joyous occasion. I hope you weren't too exhausted after the chat last night, and thank you once more for my very own mouse logo balloon! Hope your Patreon goes from strength to strength. :)

It is, it's a great result I think, the firefighters did so well. It was a really fun stream and it was fun to do something different; I'm glad you liked your balloon! And thank you for joining me on the Patreon adventure! :)

Ok, so there's an inscrutable hero dressed in black who doesn't suffer fools gladly, an immortal guy named Dios who's secretly able to stop time for himself and a grumpy animal who's a lot smarter than he looks. Is this a fuckin' Jojos reference?

And they fight in discworld version of Egypt. Yes

I noticed when I read it that one of the gods who really should be there was missing. There was the sky goddess, Nyet I think, there, but her brother-husband wasn't. His name was Geb, at least here on round-world it was, and he was depicted with a bird, like a duck or goose, sitting or standing on his head. Just saying.

The characterization is not as strong in this book compared to Pratchett's others. For example, int the scene where Tepic and Ptraci discuss the cow dreams. The dream means that someone has royal blood. The two characters go on with the conversation, without realizing that it means Ptraci can be King? They're not depicted as stupid characters previously. But to make that bit work, they become stupid.

Out of the seven I’ve read so far (I’m reading them in publication order), it is my least favourite. I didn’t enjoy it at all, but really looking forward to Guards Guards next :-)

Hi, Mouse. If I had to guess, I might think that the "books" (within this novel) were concepts & early drafts, which were put aside. Making use of leftovers, when the publisher asks for more to publish. Strong feelings define our passion(s), they say. So this book has earned your rather mediocre evaluation. (19 onto 900!) bonté

I've enjoyed it more with each successive read. As his Gods trilogy goes it is my least favorite,
