This stuff is HIGHLY toxic. It's saturated with lead and other heavy metals. This causes cancer, ADD, OCD, brain damage. Infertility. It sheds as it gets older, and then you stack them and touch your face or eat. Hole it up to a strong light or sunlight. You can see where it wears off/chips. You aerate the fumes in the dishwasher. It's on the shelves. Absorbs into your skin. It was in toys of the 70s. Promo glasses of the 80s. Tupperware. Mexican pottery.

I have a few of the clear teardrop shaped bowls. I have never seen others and I have no idea when they date to. They are scratched up but i got them anyway because i liked them and had never seen them. Any ideas?

I'm not familiar with those bowls Elizabeth. There are a number of websites that focus specifically on Pyrex that may be able to help you. You could also post a photo in my FB group, Your Vintage Headquarters, and ask for some help with dating. Let me know how it goes!

They are called Mix and Measure bowls. They came in three sizes and date 1962-1968. Finding them not all scratched up is difficult.

Such helpful info! Hopefully, you can help me. I called Pyrex (twice) and told them I have 2 pie dishes all capitalized “PYREX” clear and colorless which should indicate it’s borosilicate and prior to 1998. My other 3 pie dishes all lowercase “pyrex” have a bluish green tint indicating soda lime and asked them I indeed have 2 borosilicate dishes. They insisted Pyrex only made borosilicate pie dishes from 1915-1940. I challenged them that internet searches not only cite 1998 as the year the change took place but furthermore I bought the “PYREX” ones in the 90’s when I went off to college and needed dishware. I wasn’t even alive in the 40’s so these weren’t produced then. I really think the 2 “PYREX” colorless ones are borosilicate and the 3 are lime soda. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

I wish I could help. Unfortunately I don't know much about clear Pyrex and everything I know about colorful Pyrex is in the video or the article on my website (link in description above). I hope you get the answers you're looking for!

The Internet is wrong. US clear Pyrex was switched to soda lime glass in the late 1940s around the same time opal Pyrex ovenware was introduced. When World Kitchen owned the Pyrex brand, they addressed the false 1998 claim on their website, but now that Instant Brands owns it, they don't seem to. The uppercase vs. lowercase is not in any way a reliable indicator of glass composition, nor is a particular tint. To make matters worse, ATK has in recent months revived this fiction in a KZbin short.
