For the fellow students: at 2:01, NPN transistor was inserted backwards I think. The circuit works correctly only if the NPN transistor is flipped. Please see 2N3904 datasheet, at 2:11 the "rightmost pin" of the transistor is the collector not emitter. The setup works backwards (as displayed) too but it has some strange currents when base is off

SIR Just now i watched yr video on INTRODUCTION TO ELECTRONICS---TRANSISTORS LIKED YR VIDEO AND U TEACH/INSTRUCT VERY WELL. My humble request to u is please write the circuit diagram 1st and explain the purpose of the experiment and explain the functioning of the circuit ( Before the experiment). While u have done that already, u have reversed the above requested proceedure. While there is nothing wrong in it,all i wanted to say is that if experiment is demonstrated before only a person well versed in electronics can grasp easily where as others like me trying to learn electronics cannot. Except for this yr video is praise worthy. Thanking u Vatsa INDIA

The current applied to the transistor base is > 0.6 A, and still the transistor works without any problem!! Can you explain why please??

Does it matter whether the load is upstream (closer to positive) or downstream (closer to ground) of the transistor?

As an computer engineer there's so much wrong about this video. The wiring is incorrect for one. The collector and emitter have been swapped. The biggest point is this video is treating BJTs as voltage driven devices which they are not. A MOSFET can operate that way but for anyone using a BJT they need to understand that it is a current driven device. It acts as a switch and an amplifier. One needs to be aware of the Hfe or Beta of the part to calculate the amount of current needed. You can give it more voltage and not have an operating circuit because not enough current is flowing. The third point is that the schematics presented are very poor practice. Even with the current limited above the load extra current is being provided through the BJT to the LED in that configuration. NPN BJTs and N-channel enhancement MOSFETS are placed to do low-side switching, below the load to ground. PNP/P-channel is done on the high side like was done in the diagrams.
