It reminded me of another video on KZbin of a fireworks display going off all at once, and a personal story about some kids in the neighborhood where I live who got ahold of their dad's construction equipment and started setting off dynamite like firecrackers. We found out about this because we were modding our Xbox 360 and the house kept shaking like an earthquake was happening. It turns out the entire neighborhood was shaking, so we called the police. Everyone else in the neighborhood was doing the same thing, and the police came back, saying that some dumb kids were setting off dynamite sticks that they got from their father's construction equipment because apparently, he brought home TNT sticks that weren't even in a secure safe or anything. These kids made a crater in their backyard that had to be filled in. I never got to see it, but this is what I was told happened."

One of the craziest things I've seen at a fireworks display was the last shot of the display at a pub, of all things. It just kept on going up... and up... and up... beyond the point anybody expected it to go, until finally, after like eight seconds ascending, it bursts with a flash bright enough to cast long black shadows for miles. An explosion loud enough to be felt in my gut hits us all at once and I was left wondering what the hell I just watched. I asked the guy who was running the show what the hell that last one was and the guy just calmly says it was a maroon. Motherfucker let off a naval distress signal above our heads for shits and / or giggles. A *naval* distress signal.

I remember one time when I was a kid I was in the neighbor's backyard while they were doing a Fourth of July fireworks. There was one firework that had 4 explosions but only two of them went off. While I was walking around one of them hit me in the head, but luckily it wasn't ignited. So I brought it to the guy in charge and he lit it and through it like a baseball. It exploded in the woods parallel with the ground. One of the coolest things I've ever seen

As a fellow pyrotech, love the vid, there are different regulations per area but it is really nice hearing some of the minor differences. And the statement of rules for fireworks is very true. My go to explanation for fireworks is my whole family knows how to make them by the time we each turn 5, but we also get to be in charge of everyone else because we know our shit. As a well experienced pyrotechnician, I do agree with everything he's saying. We do have mishaps from time to time like the embers falling on the other fireworks as an example, or other problems with the Maker Magic devices going out of whack. I remember setting up a small show a few years back with mortar racks and cakes secured in well-designed wooden boards. Apparently, the Maker Magic device malfunctioned and within a few seconds, the biggest chain reaction occurred, and it lit up the sky entirely at an instant. It wasn't supposed to do that, but it was completely awesome. It goes to show that freak accidents can happen.

I've helped my dad (he's a licensed firework operator or something, I'm not) for our village's small annual firework in France and it sound like the people doing fireworks in the usa are standing much closer to their explosives than we are. We are (approximated and converted) 65 feet away from the smallest ones and over 320 feet from the actual bombs. Also we use an actual board with buttons. And like it's a piece of crap that was hand made in 1981 but it's fine, and we're just a small village. What are you guys doing lmao

Great video as a fellow pyrotechnician I got to say you boys do it differently on the West Coast. We use a nighthawk fire control system and hand lighting still, we're allowed to have up to 10 in shells in the show if the sponsor has the space but once you get past six it's kind of expensive and not worth it. Building racks is for oldies podded firing trailers are the future and they're easy. Barges are insane And you'll never know you're truly alive until you get a flower pot 14 ft away out of a 6-in gun on a barge. The post 9/11 thing was in regards to 1.1 g only two ports in the United States import 1.1 snow bye-bye 10 and 12-in shells. We have had to sack random strangers, sponsors, and activists before we've also had to tell fire department officials and police to fuck off for getting too close to the guns. 70% of the time we are our own fire department except for cattail fires in Rhode Island and Westerly those guys are sitting around all day they can put those out. Have a safe season in 2024 from your boys on the East Coast at pyrotechnical and Atlas fireworks.
