One hospital story, I injured my left ring finger playing flag football in college. My hand reached to grab a guy's flag, went into his pocket. I slipped with said hand still in pocket. Heard a snap, shooting pain, and my finger was paralyzed. I go to the VA hospital, I'm a veteran, and the doctor on duty gets an X-Ray and shows it to me. Near the first digit of the finger is a bone fragment shaped like a toenail clipping. Doctor says, "It's just a sprain. Put some ice on it." When asked about the bone fragment, he said, and I quote, "It will graft itself into the bone later on." They gave me an ice bag and sent me home. The next morning, I got a call from a very angry VA doctor, demanding I come in now for emergency surgery. Turns out, that bone fragment cut the tendons in the finger. They snapped like a rubber band and were now gathered at the base of the finger by the knuckle. I told him was the first doctor said, it was a sprain. "I don't care what he said. Your finger is broken. Get over here now." He wasn't angry at me. He was angry at the other doctor and his misdiagnosis. They had to cut open my finger, pin the tendons back into place, and inserted a 1/2-inch-long metal rod through my finger to keep it in place. About eight weeks later they removed the rod. No surgery for that. Just a set of pliers. Yeah. Pliers. Over time the rod eroded through the tip of my finger. That was natural. When it was time, the doctor used the pliers, two strong yanks, and out came the rod. No pain. Then came another two months of physical therapy. That was the fastest I've seen the VA move. I'm guessing they feared a malpractice suit. Recently I got a copy of all my VA diagnosis and treatment summaries. This injury is still listed as a sprain!

I remember watching Maceman's first interview, the overwhelming amount of empathy I felt moved me to tears. Weeks afterword, I kept wondering how he was doing now and, in hearing him so much happier and laughing...I can hardly express the amount of joy it brings to know he's thriving. 17:00 So there was this old man I knew who I saw on my way to school some days (depending on the path I took) who would hang out beside a local coffee shop. He was just a nice old man who was perfectly mentally healthy and nice to talk to. He was on the street due to some stupid shit he did as a teen that got him a federal record. It is nigh impossible to get a job with a federal record in Canada. Anyways he passed away a few years ago in his 50s (iirc) and the local folks put up a little memorial for him.

Depends on the situation. I agree more de-escalation training and usage would improve a lot of situations and interactions, but we can't toss aside uses of force when it is necessary. There are always going to be people who are experiencing an inability to control themselves due to MH or intoxication and *properly* restraining them prevents them from harming themselves or others until they regain control over themselves. Use of force is a fascinating topic that is complex enough that we need to examine every instance on a case by case basis as well as improve with broad strokes reform.

Another one of those Vyvanse munchers here, Vyvanse is, as are most stimulants, are appetite suppressants! To make a complicated story short, it removes the sense of hunger, so sometimes you can not eat all day and just be like "not really hungry tho." Make sure to eat regardless! you still need just as much food on Vyvanse :)

I take Vyvanse too! Unfortunately its gotten hella expensive. I'm basically playing 100 dollars a month in order to be a functional adult and not lose my job. lil off topic but im someone who made the mistake of coming out as a furry like freshman year of highschool Im now 19 (sounds younger) and i get bullied for being trans and a furry each day as a senior among other things
