Too bad you didn't mention the fate of his corpse. Alcyoneos, the son of Antigonos, took the severed head of Pyrrhos and brought it to his father as a prize. When Antigonos saw the head, he chastised Alcyoneos, calling him barbarous and impious. He proceeded to find the rest of Pyrrhos' body and burned it with honors befitting a king. Alcyoneos managed to redeem himself quickly, as he found the son of Pyrrhos, Helenos, amongst the survivors at the gates of Argos, but in a pitiful state. He brought him to his father, and Antigonos this time congratulated him for his noble conduct, although he did pointed out that he should have given Helenos new clothes since his were stained with blood and mud. After tending to Helenos, Antigonos sent him back to his home.

@@kanyekubrick5391 As far as I know, Caesar showed mercy to all his enemies who asked for it. Brutus asked for it and then took part in his assassination, actually. Now, he had a motive to emphasize his magnanimity, and even more importantly, so did Augustus, whose initial claim to legitimacy was his being Caesar's adopted heir. Still, I think the man was fairly honorable and compassionate. Of course, he was also incredibly power-hungry, and not in the least shy of using atrocities against Gauls. People are complicated. Nonetheless, Pompey was also a honorable Roman in his eyes, and I suspect he would have preferred to stick him in a villa on some remote island for the rest of his years, guarded by some absolutely reliable veterans with orders to kill him if necessary.

@@theonlylauri How honorable or compassionate was Caesar when he basically committed genocide against the Celts, cut off the arms of tens of thousands (if not more) Celtic POWs who surrendered, enslaved a million people, and then humiliated, imprisoned, and executed Vercingetorix who surrendered to him? What about when Caesar massacred Germanic tribes (fleeing from the Suebi) who had requested asylum from the Romans during an armistice? The massacre of the Usipetes and Tencteri was so brutal and uncalled for that even the Senate was outraged and wanted to condemn him, prompting Caesar to start invasions of Germany and Britain to distract the Senate. Caesar made a big deal out of his pardons to his political enemies to score Public Relations points. @@konradcurze939 This is a popular belief that has serious shortcomings. Hannibal want's brigs war to Italy, defet roman army and broke network od Rome aliances in the Italian Peninsula and beyond. He know that anihilatoion od 0,4-0,5 mln strong city (Rome's population at this time), was nerly impossible with his army. The strategy and it's implementacion was good. He defet or even destroy Roman Army few times. Creating pressure on Romans ally to switch sides and operate Roman soil for 10 years. Some Romman ally join Carthage (Syracuse, and southern Italy). But most of Itialian settlement- ally of Rome didn't switch side. Hanibal could be everywere. Roman's push into Iberia and They defeated the Carthaginians there. The Romans performed diplomatic miracles to keep their allies. They still had the manpower to field armies that would not allow Hannibal to operate freely, while avoiding battle with him. Where Hannibal was not, the Roman commanders were able to achieve victories. Hanibal couldn't be everywhere. At the same time, the Carthaginians did not have so many good generals who would represent a level similar to their Roman counterparts (in Iberia they lost few times). That was victory of The state and its system, capable of generating almost inexhaustible resources. Hannibal's greatest deficiency was not his lack of strategic planning, but his own state's lack of capitalizing on his victories. The only thing Hannibal could have done differently was to try to slaughter Rome's population in the city itself. However, to do this when you only have a few under your command and you have to protect yourself on enemy territory all the time.

The late Roman Republic was unbeatable. Pyrrhus was going to eventually lose against Rome during that time no matter what he did. Rome was like a modern nation in efficiently recruiting soldiers and at the time of the Republic its people were fanatically devoted to serving in the army. Also, Rome made citizens of many conquered people to add more recruits for its army. Rome quickly added new tactics to match what its enemies did. Lastly, the city of Rome could not be taken due to its defenses and because Rome always had armies in the field. In the era of the late Republic Pyrrhus and Hannibal were arguably the greatest generals in the Mediterranean area. It didn’t matter. They could not beat Rome.

Spartan women are awesome the stongest in greece hands down. They owned land and were very wealthy also having many rights women in other greek nations did not have. In some higher families they controlled the succession of the monarchy or the throning of the kings placing their prefered candidate out of the two dynasties on the throne. They are strong willed as shown in this video as well as being the most beautiful in all of Hellos. Hellen from the Illiad was from Sparta.

Huganis That applies to most conquerors. Either they actually do conquer everything and then have their empire fall apart into multiple empires after they die (Alexander, Genghis Khan, etc), or they don’t stop and eventually get their teeth punched in (Napoleon, Charles XII, Nazi Germany, Imperial Japan....)

I think Pyrrhus is just as impressive as Hannibal. Defeated Rome twice got close to it, defeated Carthage, Macedonians, took on the Spartans which were the elite soldiers of Greece. Like Hannibal he knew how to gain a victory but not how to use it or his army was so depleted he just gave up.
