Saving The Everglades By Using Dogs To Hunt Giant Pythons. Otto is my new Python Hunting Dog. I could tell Moose was not having it anymore so I decided to give Otto a try. I was hired for a special project and Otto more than proved he was up for hunting giant pythons. He blew me away with how well he could find them.

They set pigs free to hunt them as free food, and we have to pay to try to eliminate them! One thing to do is to ban people from eating invasive species, and from taking the carcass. @@wrongfullyaccused7139 There's a number of people hunting them down. If Florida opens up who can catch them and get paid they could narrow down the numbers quite a bit. They limit who can hunt them, and the fact you have to bring them in alive is goofy IMO. Let people shoot them things, to make it safer for the hunters, dead or alive, pay up! 😂

@@d.auge21 : There are a few problems wit that approach. Naturally, the more QUALIFIED people you have in the field hunting these invasive species the better. The problem is they are hunting a very dangerous animal and it takes training to do it and not get hurt or hurt anyone else. I do not know what the qualifications are or who does the credentialing/training. Even when they are brought in alive they are terminated quickly as I understand it. The other reason they limit who can hunt them is also due to having large numbers of people out there that could end up getting overly competitive. They pay these people to do this and you know human nature when it comes to large sums of money. The main problem with shooting them in the field is the proximity of other people. All it would take is one reckless individual who shoots someone and there would be hell to pay. Let some overconfident young person get killed by large constrictor and the lawsuits will go for ten years. Is there room for improvement? Always.

3:28 Same goes for pheasant hunting. Not only does a dog retrieve a bird in dense brush, they are able to find the birds you'd walk over in the first place. The dogs thrive on it. My uncle's dogs used to get excited when the guns were taken out of storage 🤣

Hey Mike, 2 questions… 1. Why don’t you fold up a snake bag and keep it on you to put the snakes in when you’re out on the islands? 2. Why don’t you set up a PayPal option for people to help fund your work (keeping dogs healthy, etc…). I am beyond happy that you are trying so hard to make an impact in our state! The day I see iguanas or pythons in my central Florida yard is the day that I start looking for a move!

The German wirehaired pointer seems a good choice for this coat, being pretty harsh in terms of dealing with that underbrush. Ideally, you could probably do with more than one pointer. Or perhaps even a pack of hounds.

@@PythonCowboy Just keep your head on a swivel. The large constrictors are indeed very dangerous. Anything over ten feet is lethal. What is not widely know is that there are breeding populations of Kraits and Cobras in the mix as well. Stay safe.

Haha that intro part "If you aint huntin with a dog son, IDK what you're doing." I don't hunt, but last year I drove through this area while on a mini-road trip that was loaded with hunters going for Ring Necked Pheasants. I swear that while driving through this wildlife management area I saw at least a couple hundred hunters and only a handful with a dog. The 1 guy I saw track down a bird had a German Pointer pup with him that tracked it down and flushed it. PS your dogs are incredible workers! Well trained my man!
