Hey I've got some news on zebra mussels. Zebra muscles in the Great lakes are on a massive decline. They ate themselves to death however another problem that they're facing is a second invasive species, the quagga muscle! I have watched the rise and the Fall of the zebra muscle and interestingly enough there's a lot of natural predators of them now in the Great lakes that's we're not originally able to utilize them. When it comes to invasive species the key is slowing them down long enough for the local ecosystem to evolve and naturalize them so that they no longer cause catastrophic harm. That said some argue that quaga muscles are actually worse for humans for a variety of reasons so yeah that's the thing. Zebra muscles aren't the only invasive species I've seen rise and fall, it seems to be a continuous process and it really does just come down to trying to minimize the damage and tell the ecosystem rebalances each and every time.

On the cane toad front, it's worth noting that Australian crows, ibises, and magpies are slowly adapting to eat cane toads. Crows and magpies flip the toads over to avoid the poison glands by eating the toads' bellies, and ibises pick them up, dunk them in water, and stress them until they release their poison, rendering the toad edible The tadpoles are unable to control their poison glands and toxify the water by default, so as of yet they don't have any predators there. The best way we've figured to control toad populations is by preventing them from breeding, as a result--fences around bodies of water, and scooping out eggs that make it through

Here's a few dishonorable mentions 🐗Wildboars, which were originally native to Europe and Asia, were introduced to Australia and New Zealand for recreational hunts. However, the pigs grew in size, quickly taken over their new territories, and damaged the environment due to the lack of predators to control their populations. 🦊 Foxes were also introduced to Australia for hunting purposes. Thanks to the lack of natural predators such as wolves, lynxes, hawks, owls, and bears from Europe. The foxes quickly taken over down under, harming a lot of native species such as birds, reptiles, and marsupials. 🐰Rabbits were sent to Australia for recreational hunts, meat, and fur. Once again, thanks to the lack of their natural predators and high birth rate, the rabbits quickly overpopulated the continent and out compete native species. 🐱 Cats are easily the most popular pet (alongside dogs), which explains why the little felines came along with their owners wherever they went. Unfortunately, many of these cats either ran away from home or were left behind for themselves, which, as a result, became feral and wondered off on their own. Needless to say, cats became a problem for a lot of countries & islands where they don't belong, such as Australia, Hawaii, and New Zealand, in which cats slaughtered many native birds becoming extinct.

As a Caribbean kid that has nearly lived his whole life in South Florida, I’m very familiar with the concepts of invasive species and the creatures here, although I wasn’t sure about the Nile crocodile part since we have the American crocodile that also dwells in these waters. As much as I despise seeing animals being killed, this is indeed a very serious ecological problem we have created and as such, we must be the ones to reverse it or else, all will be lost.

Kudzu's generally only a problem when it's not being used as fodder or material for all the crafts it's been cultivated for in Asia for millennia. It was propagated and distributed as erosion control in the early 20th century (around the time of the Dust Bowl if I not misremembering). I think it'd be cool to see a video about how lawns perpetuate the invasion of non-native grass species around the world, and how that decreases the habitat of native animals (but increases the habitat of others)

I hate when people say something like, "It's impossible to get rid of the carp." Just because you are not cleaver enough to come up with a solution, it doesn't mean others can't. In the 1790's Pierre-Simon Laplace asserted that humans could never determine what stars are made of. At the time this assertion was made, spectroscopy had already been discovered, but it's use in identifying what stars were made of was still being worked out. But in less than 25 years it was being used to discover what the sun was made of.
