Very nice video with good food for thought! My personal disappointment with the Pyxis launch was that it is too big. I was hoping for a smaller box camera with maybe a refreshed 6K S35 Sensor for Studio work (and with Smpte2110 which they are pushing). Hoped for L-Mount and an Adapter to LPL with an E-ND that can be controlled over BM Camera Control. Would have made the studio and live streamers happy as well as the gimbal flyers! But who knows, maybe there is a Pyxis Studio or Mini coming up that differentiates it more from the Ursa Mini 12k (which I get to play around with next month) :)

That's a great comparison. Also, just as a personal preference, your video looks great but I think it's a tad too dark. Your face is more covered by darkness which I great for the effect but I think it's a bit too much.

I have a new monitor which is not playing to well with the Mac rec709a conversion from resolve. I will need to try tune it or do something in resolve to correct this . It is meant to be moody , but not dark like it came out 😢 will get this ironed out in the next one

@@lightleaked Yeah 100%. I love the moody aesthic. Good example, If you look at the footage. 2:25 onwards, I've watched on my laptop and phone and but it's too dark. Again other than that, great video especially from a small content creator. Really nice. I can't even get my hands on one of these but I love hearing people talk about these kinds of things.

This image is severely under exposed. The Pyxis is great because it's Full frame, open gate. it's $3000 dollars less than the 12k, which means you can get an A & B camera for the price of one 12k. Lets be honest, no client cares about image specs, 12k, 7ms rolling shutter...its just you KZbinrs trying to sound like industry gurus pimping gear. If we're gonna be honest, no one needs to buy new gear. the industry is crashing and prices for work is plummeting. If you become a gear pimp, you'll lose in the end.

Actually more KZbinrs are pimping the Pyxis way more than the few videos rhat exist of the Ursa 12k. Also you can get a used Ursa 12k for as low as $3600 which makes his argument valid

Hi friend , i have a new monitor and it threw off the whole video when converting in Davinci so i can only appologise. I got my 12K 2nd hand and they go for £2800- 3200 ( US $3000 - $3500 ) which is just slightly below the new pyxis with a PL mount. I actually did not recomend buying the new shiny camera, so NO pimping was done here mate :D

@@bmefilms6879 Ebay always seem to have one near that price, and MPB sometimes list it for that cheap and through black friday companies like the Camera Exchange, KEH and Lens Rentals had deals that brought the used price down below $4000. If you are in the market just be on the lookout, there is always a similar deal to be had. Even had 2 Ursa 12ks on sale locally that were $3400 each with Nikon Mounts

that was an intense intro ! reminds me of a serial murder thriller ! on the pyxis i agree and i dont agree, the pyxis is not meant to be the same as the cine cameras otherwise no one will buy the cine versions and or the price of the pyxis will put it in a price bracket to compete with other brands , which i guess would be a good thing as that would create more value for the BMD brand.. who knows but yes i wish the rolling shutter was addressed and better on the pyxis , keep it up man we will smash through to 1000 !

its true yes , it would definately undermime the cine cams ! yeah rolling shutter is not a problem for any camera operator UNTIL they use a global shutter camera , their eyes pop and become 15 year old fan boys/girls ready to jump into icy water for the company :D. Jokes aside the UMP 12 has a superior highlight rolloff and better highlight recovery in my opinion. So its a bit more in it than the rolling shutter , i did not go over this because there are a plethora off other videos that cover this in detail. But if you guys need anymore info on the UMP12 please let me know ill happilly answer all .
