Jordan was averaging 39.8ppg in 12 games against Detroit, before they instituted "The Jordan Rules." Which basically, was just to mug him any time he got in the paint. In the playoffs during Detroit's back to back championships, the Pistons were 22-2 in the playoffs against all the teams NOT named Chicago Bulls...against the Bulls, they were 8-5 in those championship runs. People act like the Bulls just came on the scene in 1991...but they were in the mix as early as 1989. 1990 was there first true championship contender season though. They took Detroit to Game 7, but Pippen buckled under the pressure and gave us "The Migraine Game", that rendered him useless on the court. Pippen was 1 for 10 from the field, and scored just 2 points. The whole team shot like trash, Jordan was the only one who showed up. Jordan had 31 points on 13 for 27, 9 assists and 8 rebounds. Minus Jordan, the Chicago Bull made just 15 of 63 FGs, for an awful 23.8%FG. There's a little history lesson for you. I started watching the Bulls in 1986, and watched as many games as possible. Jordan in the 1980's was an absolute beast.

Dude NOW you finally get it! JORDAN was doing all of this BEFORE Ja Morant, Kyrie Irving, Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Allen Iverson, James Harden and the list goes on!!! THAT'S one of the things that makes him the GOAT. Players today are doing things we have already seen MJ doing. We don't Hate Lebron and we are not saying we don't want him to be the GOAT, we are saying as of now, what we saw in the NBA when MJ was playing, we have not seen it since from another player... Kobe and LeBron are close, but not really that close to MJ..

MJ would not need the 3pt shot in this era. MJ once scored 3,041 total points in a season, while hitting only "12," 3-pt shots! His average was 37.1 points a game that year. However, James Harden is the only player since MJ to scored near that 3,041 mark with 2,818 points but he did it with '378,' 3-pt shots. With the open spacing and lack of defense of today's NBA, Michael would have his way!

People wanted to watch MJ because he made tough baskets on a regular basis. He made the game look easy. That's why the NBA had to change RULES drastically to make players look like they can score like Mike. They made SCORINg easy by almost eliminating physical defense Jordan was known for his acrobatic shots and serving facials on 7 footers. MJ and Dennis Rodman have the same approach when it comes to the game of basketball. They were both borderline psychos.

@BazookaIke
@BazookaIke Жыл бұрын
@@krwnsy in most seasons, MJ shot about 1 three pointer per game or less. Those are the seasons where his 3 point percentage suffered. When you look at the 4 seasons where he was shooting about three 3 pointers or more per game, his 3 point percentage was: 37.6, 35.2, 42.7 and 37.4%. So yeah...anyone who says MJ couldn't shoot from three is not being truthful. He could shoot from deep and do so at a pretty good rate. He just chose not to for the most part. BTW...Lebron's has a career 34.4% from three. Kobe's is 32.9%. Those 2 spent most or all of their careers shooting at least 3 three pointers per game. They used it as a weapon. MJ didn't, except for those 4 seasons.

The tongue thing, Jordan said it came from his dad. His dad said he always stuck his tongue out when he was really focusing or concentrating. One thing I'll always say, I wish this generation could've watch Jordan games live, and known what it was like to see a kid in school with Jordan's on. When I was in school, 2 or 3 people had Jordan's because they were hard to get. You might get to the store on the day they release, and they would be sold out. Then you drive 2 hours to another mall, and they were sold out. No internet to buy stuff instantly. Watching Jordan games live was always intense, it was always a fight because everyone wanted to beat him. You could almost tangibly feel their desire to win, but Jordan's was always greater. Not only the way he played, but how he pushed his team to play harder.

To answer your question: It was unbelieveable seeing MJs entire career. I am fortunate to have seen every NBA season since 1987. One of the reasons Bron doesn't dunk it that often in close games is that he struggles from the line in these situations. Having watched all of these great players in their prime, Kobe was the closest to MJ, Iverson was the greatest scorer since MJ and Bron is like what if Magic Johnson never had HIV and played 20 seasons. Bron better compares to Magic in my opinion, he is just way too different in regards to playing style from Jordan.

One thing people can do (if possible) is, check out the NBA a few years before Jordan got there (the top teams, stars, stats, conferences, playing styles etc.) then look at Jordan's development up until he transformed from the battles with The Bad Boys. Checking out things like that puts a lot of things in context. Also, you can check out the careers of the other stars in the league, see who Jordan was going against (how good they were, the obstacles he had to face while playing 80+ games every year). Context IS Huge.

He also possesses the mid-range game similar to Kevin Durant. The "Bad Boy Pistons" had no other choice but to make some sort of an adjustment to guard or hammer Michael Jordan every time he had the ball close to the net or in the paint. I always thought, this is NBA Basketball, not NFL Football.

@@TheIcemanthomas Yes he was. Black, white, purple, green or blue. He was the first one of ANY kind to do what he did. I stand by what I said. He brought the music he loved to the masses. He shoved it in the faces of the masses. He went to black only nights at the fairs, he went to colored only clubs...he loved and celebrated this music. He shared it with everyone. He made people accept his black back up singers and musicians, or he wouldn't play. Whitney Houston's mom sang back up for him, and he quite purposefully helped Dionne Warwick get started in Vegas. Have you watched Elvis and the Black Community yet? You need to see it and educate yourself. Elvis was born into poverty in Tupelo, MS. This was the music he grew up listening to, which in my mind makes it just as much his as any other child in his neighborhood. So no need to address cultural appropriation...it WAS his culture. And if you believe in that delusional theory, who gets bows? Arrows? Canoes? Only the Chinese would be allowed to use gunpowder and explosives, and no one with African roots would be playing the guitar or the piano. Or football, which comes from rugby, which comes from England, which is whiter than anywhere except Scandinavia. Or baseball, which comes from cricket, which comes from England, and so on. Only the Irish would tap dance. Etc., Etc., Etc. And if anyone tried to take the piano or guitar away from Prince or Jimi Hendrix, I'd beat them silly with it myself. It's called a collective consciousness, which helps evolution right along. And THANK GOD for THAT!!!

Mj dominates every part of the court, Is so obvious he knew exactly what to do, His movement did not have any hesitation, Mid range and post he was a monster and if you bite he's bringing it in with a dunk

that series, you will become converted and you wont look back. That was the raw MJ in his prime. The showcase of talent skills and grace... this guys must have a deal with the devil, its not possible. There is nobody to compare if jordan is in todays ERA, it would have been the most magnificent explosion of sports magnified by social media. This guy doesnt need to talk, this guy just surpass every expectation every single game. Everyone thought he will never get a ring, he dont have a team. Then pippen and the history manifest itself that he is above magic and bird with less to no superstar... pippen as an allstar thats the beginning of the greatest dynasty of the modern NBA.

You young guys don't realize where Jordan dunk's from he is not near the basket on fast break dunks he jump either from the foul line or a little in front of it, he had a 48 inch vertical. Nobody's jumping with him. That's why they nicknamed him "Air Jordan"!!! 10:30

He did those moves in an era where it is illegal to carry/lift the ball while dribbling. There is also no gather step then 1-2 that time, as soon as the ball is carried it is automatically count as 1. They can hand check, push, even hack yet he still delivers. By the way, a collegiate MJ with college players as Team USA defeated NBA All Star in team USA's tune up game.

Jordan would kill it today for one reason alone, NO ONE in the modern NBA has the FIRE that Jordan had. If you challenged MJ, he would do what it took to 1. up his game, 2. prove your ass wrong. Jordan was 95-98% a perfect basketball player, and that's ONLY because the 5-2% remaining wasn't necessary to his game. But if he needed to tighten up the remaining percentages, he would have done it easily. Just like after the Detroit series, he improved his physical fitness and game BEYOND what he was already doing. MJ was a force of nature on the court, and nature ALWAYS bent. NOBODY, including Bron, has his drive and sheer talent, let alone his basketball IQ.

I had the privilege to see mj play. I followed his career. I was the biggest Mj fan. I had all his shoes his jersey's his McDonald's cups his bubblegum. His Wheaties collection cereal box. Had a lot of Mj cards seen all his title runs. & For ppl today saying that Mr Flop Crybaby Lebron is better & the goat I was like IS THIS A JOKE IS THIS QUESTION IRRELEVANT? MJ Worked really hard to be the best to be the goat. MJ is the goat cuz MJ played the game like it was life. MJ breathed basketball. MJ played in a era when basketball was physical & better talent & Hall of famers. MJ had heart. All Mr Flop is doing is trying to be the best & call himself the goat now that's a joke. NBA today sux the players suck. all the NBA players are care about is trying to be a superstar. Today's NBA is Sissyball. And that's why NBA ratings & the playoffs are really low. When MJ was playing everyone was watching. The NBA was #1 to watch. NBA today is a joke& pathetic.

You can also consider that the 3pt line was adapted by the NBA in 1979 and the NCAA in 1986. So players like Magic, Bird, MJ etc weren't really practicing the 3 early on unlike the kids today.

The thing about bringing Jordan forward in the modern game is the question of giving him space, no dominant defensive frontcourt, and prob most importantly the newly legal footwork. Imagine giving Jordan a sidestep, step back, euro option with his skill set. Then imagine he gets to take ten threes a game like superstars today. I just don’t think people get what he would capable of in todays nba.

I remember when he was a rookie. Then achieves Magic and Bird status. TIME magazine had a cover on him. I thought the only way he could get any bigger was to win a championship. So he won 6. Two 3 peats. Just soared on up.

Huge Jordan fan here. But I’m an 80s baby - so as I was a huge fan of 1990s MJ, I really didn’t see the 80s MJ… since I was born 2 years after he was drafted 😂, but my whole childhood, he was it. I remember KG and then Kobe getting drafted… all 3 retirements… everything. Except the 80s

Have you watched Bird? If not you should! His career was cut short due to a back injury. Hands down in his prime one of the greatest players of all time. He had the most solid all around game, offense, defense, rebounds, all shooting, one of the greatest passers ever, and the best trash talker of all time! There’s 2 videos to watch. The one with his retirement and the one of all the greats sharing their stories of Bird torching them while talking smack the whole game and telling them exactly what he was gonna do where and how he’d shoot it in their face and nothing they could do about it!
