@Jordan B Peterson Thank you. My dad is dying of bowl cancer. I am a recovering alcoholic. Listening to you gave me some hope! I buried my step mum a week before Christmas. And regardless of the fact I am a recovering addict I took your advice and I am trying my best to be there for my Father in his last days. I am being the "best" daughter I can be under difficult circumstances. So thank you. Because when my daddy dies I think I will at least, not to try to follow him. My heart goes out to you and your family. Much love. X

Hey Dr Peterson. I know you won't see this but you are the only role model I've ever had. I really admire you because of how helpful you are to me and others in your lectures and seemingly everything you say. Like if you could have one possible skill, being able to literally improve people's lives by a large margin and just by speaking. Wow. I missed out on your ticket to Sydney which sold out in 2 hours. Probably not going to regret almost anything as much as being able to not see you in person . Thanks for all your help. And Being (in capital) one of the good guys on the Earth. Thank you so much.

I agree, and, it's funny to think of it as new, when wisdom teachings have been with us since time immemorial. Dr. P is framing old stuff in a new way, which works beautifully because wisdom is timeless. And, we live in time, so we need to grapple with bringing the two polarities together in our lives.

12 more rules: 1. Do not carelessly denigrate social institutions or creative achievements. 2. Imagine who you can be and aim single-mindedly at that. 3. Work as hard you possibly can at one thing - and see what happens. 4. Do not hide unwanted things in the fog. 5. Abandon ideology. 6. Notice that opportunity lurks where responsibly has been abdicated. 7. Do not do things that you hate. 8. Try to make one room at your house as beautiful as possible. 9. If old memories still make you cry - write them down carefully and completely. 10. Plan and work diligently to maintain the romance in your relationship. 11. Be grateful in spite of your suffering. 12. Do not allow yourself to become resentful, deceitful or arrogant.

Renata Santos I think it can be applied both individually and socially. Individually, your greatest potential for progress is in those areas of your life where you have failed to take responsibility. The one thing in common with everything in your life is you. The emphasis Jordan gives on making a positive difference by taking responsibility upon yourself is so important, and if you want to have the greatest long-term effect in changing others: realizing your interactions with them (exposure upon them) is only in the immediate or often destructive when you're trying to force your will upon them rather than inspire them. Please inspire people to do the right thing as Jordan is. Thanks Jordan, because the inspiration that drives you to continue your work is being passed on to us.

Question 1 part B 'How can I talk about the resentment of my childhood in a way that benefits them instead of giving them guilt? ' I had a very long and robust list of resentments against my parents, some in the past and some still ongoing. However in October 2018 we had a family crisis and I had to go home to Scotland and take care of both of my parents for 10 days. It was one of the best times ever! I was able to look after them - mum has rheumatoid arthritic and dementia and dad, who had just come out of hospital has a heart condition. In this time of crisis all of my resentments especially the ongoing ones just seemed to not matter anymore. I realised that I was somehow using these 'resentments' to isolate myself from my whole family. I may have like JBP has said misremembered events or worse manufactured them! Now I have a lovely connection with all my family, even the ones I like least. I am 60, don't bloody wait as long as I have #FFS 🙂

Thank you for sharing your story! I have such a problem in my family. My father has so many resentments for his parents, he has not had contact with them for a few months. And they suffer so much because of it. They're both over 80, very sick and knowing that their only child doesn't care about them only makes their health issues worse. And of course they were not the best parents in the world. But no one is perfect! And I can't understand why my dad doesn't understand that. He was,well...not a good parent as well. Definintely worse for me than his parents were for him. But I know that what is in the past, should stay in the past. And know I'm not perfect myself. I'm just afraid my grandparents won't live long enough for him to change his mind :(

Another beautiful thing from AA. Right down 5 things at night that you’re going to do tomorrow. JBP is spot on in regards to making them reasonable. For me literally it was 1. Brush my teeth 2. Eat breakfast 3. Call my sponsor 4. Go for a walk. 5. Read for 15 mins. Try that! And yes definitely remember humility is a wonderful ally.

I listen to the Q & A's every month and all of them provide something of value, but I felt there was something with this one that stood out for me and made it noticeably better (for a lack of a better word) than some of the ones in recent memory. The questions asked and elicited responses from Dr Peterson were really good.

Thank you for all the time and attention you give all of us dr peterson, you have helped me so much!

My father was a counseling and educational psychology professor and I miss him very much (he passed about 15 yrs ago). When I listen to your videos I often feel as though I am hearing him again. Thank you for that. I have suffered deeply from health problems for the last few years and its like hearing him again as a way to get back to myself in some small way. My father was way ahead of the game, when it came to understanding how destructive education was becoming to healthy boys way back in the 1960's and he paid for it professionally all of his career in academia. My brother and I benefit from his insite every day. The things you are speaking about with regard to healthy men and the near impossibility that feminism has created with regard to becoming and being a healthy male is spot on. I get the feeling that you have shied away from pointing out the consequences to some degree. Am I imagining that hesitation or have you talked in depth about how this contributes to making disfunctional men and boys? For example those who will lash out in episodes of violence, adopt a gang or a destructive religious doctorine or try to some how not be a man by supressing their masculinity.

When i hear you speak, and see your videos, I truly feel that i see the man speaking. The man behind the eyes, a truly honest, pure and competent man. This purity is the thing that speaks to me and i believe so many more then just me. Jordan is someone to look up to and represents something that i miss in others around me. Its a rare quality and something i feel society is losing more and more, espacially the younger generation. We have so many influecers, massmedia and socialmedia whom is establishing a fassade that we truly can´t relate to but often are indoctrinate to believe in, its so refreshing and nurturing to see someone who stands out and gives that trustworthy impression. I´ve had alot of trauma in my family and weak relationship to rolemodels. I hope you continue your work to inspiring others to take on responsability and to speak forthrightfully in the world. I believe its rolemodels like you that have a groundbreaking chance of changing the world for the better. I want to thank you for the impact you´ve had on my life and i believe many more feel the same way.
