Riddle has talent but he’s no Malleus. Canonically, Royals are great magic users because of exclusive specialized training and/or being born to races or families predisposed to magic. Purely based on potential at birth Riddle was good but not great. However since his mom wanted a great magic user for a son she forced him to train and study magic practically from birth and since she was a doctor she was able to use magic, medicine or something that would artificially enlarge his magic power. He’s the best in his year from effort and training at a young age. Riddle is powerful but when you look at the heavy-hitters in the twisted wonderland cast his real skill is in his technique and casting speed. Also Riddle’s unique magic is non-lethal, non-invasive, deals no permanent damage and suitable for capture, which suits his character.

My headcannon is that Jamil earned his UM thanks his years of vented frustation on serving Kalim and hiding his talent. (aka conditional) Jamil always wanted to be the master of his own fate but in a unsuspected way so that his family was not blamed and and hence his UM is mind control and hypnosis based. Its literally called snake's whisper cause snakes are all sneaky when they appear behind a prey.

I feel essentially every member born into the direct shroud blood line is magical since if there were no magical members they would not inherit the curse since the point of the curse is if they don’t constantly shroud themselves with blot it will slowly strip them of their magic

Personally, my theory for Riddle's unique magic is that his mother probably tried multiple scenarios or smth to brute force Riddle into getting a UM.. or, after he was forced to no longer be able to be with Trey and Chenya, maybe he snapped a little and 'Off with You Head'ed his mother or smth.

Just to add on it's said that Riddle got his UM at 10, and he probably met Trey and Chenya when he was 8 or 9.

If I'm not mistaken, Idia's UM is only passed to the eldest child, so Ortho would have had his own UM

That’s most likely it’s possible had Ortho lived and grown up he would have had much more options than Idia has as Idia is the heir while Ortho was just the second born

If that’s true, it makes me question what would happen if twins came about. Would they both have it? Would only one have it? Does being older by seconds count if they are both in the womb together? Would it be possible for neither to have it and or skip them?
