Love this! I have been homeschooling my now 8 year old son since he was 4 and we are also adopting a little girl from India that we will also homeschool. :-)

I strongly believe home schooling is important. I have seen like 90% of the parents who thinks their children learn everything from school. They don't even bother to teach respect or be good or something. The only time they get together is after they are finished with school and they spend it eating or watching tv or playing on their own mobile.I would definitely go with hime schooling

I wish we could homeschool in India too. But here in India homeschool=joke. People use children grading system to show off how brilliant their child is. Here in India schools are all about memorising things. Practicals and extracurriculars are next to nothing. There's so much pressure on children to get good marks. Hope our system and society changes someday.

I did FLVS. There was no standardised testing and i could pick my classes. It was awesome! Also, my mom could regulate what i was being taught by talking to my online teachers. I was homeschooled and i loved it!

I enjoy hearing your perspective and appreciate the extensive thought and care you’ve put into the idea but I think the main thing homeschooled kids miss is the interaction with those who have a different perspective from their family. This is not something they can acquire from church interactions, where families have the same world-view, however, they may be getting a taste of that through soccer (unless of course the soccer team is made up of children from your church/religion). This was something I even had to deal with entering public college after attending a private religious school k-12 and will be even more pronounced in your children. I still think y’all are so great but I feel like y’all are trying to micromanage the influences in your children’s lives to the extreme, of course with loving intentions. Perhaps this is okay when your kids are very young, but it seems like it might be unhealthy as they approach adolescence. I hope my comment didn’t come off as rude in any way, just offering my own experiences up for consideration! Your family is so beautiful and I continue to wish y’all health and happiness.

Hi Janie, I have to disagree with you. Micromananging= parenting there is not one without the other. They are the ones that invest in their children, birthed/adopted their children. I think it is very wise to not follow the gradient just so your child will turn out like all the others. Their children will be more able to adapt to their environments because they aren't stuck in a classroom for 8 hours a day. I was homeschooled my last two years of high school through FLVS and it was perfect as an adolescent. It was what I needed to be surrounded by family, not by peers who had little morals and no respect for their elders or each other. I'm also in my 2nd year of college and had no problem with admissions. Sorry if you had trouble with that but that might have been the school's ignorance on the subject. Have a great day/night!

Cuban&Jamaican Simmer Hello! Sorry if you misunderstood, I didn’t have any trouble with college admissions, I meant that it was shocking to be dropped into an environment so different from the same-ness I was accustomed to and I wished I had more interactions with diverse people at a younger age. The thing I think parents forget is that children aren’t your little minions to form into a clone of yourself, they’re individual humans who deserve to experience life from more than just their parents’ point of view and should be able to come to their own independent conclusions.

I think if I was parent I would not want my kids be homeschooling. Become I think some people want to homeschooling there kids become they want spend time kids but u need to really u need to let your kids joy being kid. The best let your kids go to regular school let there be kids with homeschooling kids they have lot of classwork and homework with Virginia School they don't have lot homework like homeschooling. With Regular school they have Bookfair, field day field trip go to Resources like Music Art Library Computer class PE dress out for Gym Ride on the School bus first day of Picture of your kids go school shopping meet new kids and Teacher learn go to the Prom in School take Spanish class and Math learn Geometry and Social studies History. When parent adopt kids let go to Regular school. If I was adopt by couple I would not like being homeschooling become it boring. Homeschooling kids sit in homeschooling room all day doing with Regular school be around friend in stuff.
