She is a girl. She is also Indian, and will always be Indian no matter what. So she will always be “an Indian girl.” She will also always be “the Indian girl” in our family. She wears the label “Indian” proudly and gets excited whenever someone calls her Indian. It’s like when people call me “the Floridian boy” because I was born in Florida. Someone from another state can call me that and it is not offensive because it is true and it is something I’m proud about. If you are hearing the phrase differently you may be thinking of some negative way someone else has used those words in the past, but that is not how they were meant here.

On your youtube banner I noticed that Cadence is drawn as someone that has a white complexion. Why did you choose to not draw her how she really looks like? She is beautiful. I am asking because your family might have a reasoning for this. I know quite a few kids that struggled with their skin color growing up. I am just concerned that she will want to resembe the picture of her in the banner to "fit in" and not feel comfortable in her own skin.

You are taking the banner thing out of proportion. The drawing of her doesn’t look “white” at all. She looks slightly lighter but maybe it was done that way to keep negative comments away from people who would complain about how dark they made the drawing making it a racist thing (people complain about everything when it comes to racism). She is not that dark either, look at the recent video of “Mailbag minute” and compare the skins. I don’t see it as something wrong.

Not to us. If you're thinking about something saying it in a negative context, then sure. But if you're talking about a father saying it endearingly about his daughter, because he LOVES the fact that his daughter is Indian, then it becomes something sweet. It's not the word that is the problem. It's how it can be used that can make it a problem.

I don't mean to step over my boundaries. Of course, she's your daughter and its your job to help her learn and grow as a person. Just as long as she's comfortable. I do appreciate the fact that you took time out of your own day to clear things up. Over all, I think you have a beautiful family. Its not my place to tell you how to raise your own children if you do an incredible job of it

Love this channel, but I have to say I’m disappointed in the channel animation intro. Cadie has been completely white washed and is practically the same colour as you and your biological children. Frustrates me to see how loving and open and inclusive you are of her heritage in the channel and then to see a “white-looking” version of her in the animation.
