Question 13 talks about trying to find pumice in Melbourne, Australia. I had great difficulty finding it in Brisbane, Australia, until I eventually tracked some down at Ashi Home and Garden at Underwood. They sell it in 25L bags and you can get in two different grades - 1-7mm and 7-20mm. I got a bag of both and mixed them 50/50. The 1-7mm is too fine to use by itself because it will hold too much water and the roots won't get enough air. The 7-20mm is a bit too big to use by itself because it won't hold enough water. In one of their videos, the Swedish Guys say thier pumice is 1mm-12mm in size. Additionaly, I added vermiculite (also sold at Ashi Home and Garden). The Swedish Guys say to add 10-20% vermiculite to the pumice - closer to 20% for plants that like moist soil like peace lillies. . For people in Sydney, Australia, you can buy the pumice and vermiculate (and perlite) mentioned above direct from Ausperl. Ausperl are happy to transport their bags to other cities but the freight cost is very high because the bags are so heavy.

Thank you for the reply. I will follow your advice regarding root pruning - restricting pruning to max 1/3. I had definitely chopped more than that in my frustration 😑 Also want to add, a lot of the other questions regarding ZZ plant were ones I had too, and your answers were very helpful.

This information - so useful! I'm binge watching :) Question - What ratio would you use for pumice mix, with vermiculite? Would the vermiculite just float to top when watered as so light? I also have excess to 'Pon' is better just to go with that as safer mix?

Hi, my Ficus elastica repeatedly has white spots looking like dried up drops of milk on the upper side of the leaves. Could it be a response to insect bites and which ones could be the culprit?

Hello, I need information on senecio rowleyanus. I've already killed three young plants and I don't know why. I don't know if they have too much water or not enough. I always water it abundantly so that the water flows out the bottom of the pot and then watering only when the soil has completely dried. I use cactus soil and grow in a terracotta pot. Unfortunately, the pearls shrink all the time, they are not firm. Please help. Thank you

My zz plant is loosing its shine, and the area near the veins are lightening. Its been like this for months. Im worried it would decline soon. I was thinking its some sort of nutrient deficiency since the roots are fine and i see no infestation on leaves.
