As an addict and someone who was diagnosed with mental issues earlier in life I have appreciated Brandon's approach to debilitateing conditions even though my experience is not centered in a single character, but shares certain issues with several, even people who are portrayed as villans. I would love to give him my feedback on his portrayals of the issues I have struggled with that I saw in his characters. Emily has my number if she wants to arrange a discussion between me and Brandon.

I am so sad that I don't have the money to attend Dan's game camp. If there are still tickets available by the time of the event I will be there, FOR SURE! But, if not, I guess I will just have to hope he does it again, next year. The idea of getting to just hang out and play games with him and a bunch of other people devoted enough to want to attend something like this just sounds like an UNBELIEVABLE amount of fun. Now, I have a new idea for the sort of crazy event that I would like to run when my books eventually start paying for themselves, lol. That is for being awesome, y'all!

I don't understand all this "cultural aproppiation" thing from the US. Humanity has evolved with different cultural interchanges and specially the US is a good example of that, you can't appropiate the other regions culture even if you want to and specially if you are not from there. Food is one of the most appropiated aspects that changes between regions and countries trying to copy them and adapting it to local tastes time and time again, what is the problem with that? the original food will still exist in the country where it has its origin, and the people there will laugh at the atrocities they do to it in other places. XD I heard with the game Ghost of Tsushima there was controversion with that and even japanese people and creators congratulated the creators of it for the good job they did with the game (they couldn't care less if the creators were japanese or not). Can someone explain the problem with this to me pls? here in europe (or at least in my country) such terms we see them as absurd with all the different cultures that have inhabited our territories over thousands of years.
@TheLordofMetroids
@TheLordofMetroids Жыл бұрын
Cultural appropriation is less a wide thing and more a "I took the idea of these Kubuki masks from Japan, but I'm going to pretend I invented it and it's mine, no one else came up with it, and now I am selling it." Which is of course wrong, and messed up, and should be stopped, but a lot of people are way to... trigger happy about it I guess, and seeing anyone who uses any aspect of a culture as appropriation, which is factually incorrect.
@francesccampos1343
@francesccampos1343 Жыл бұрын
@@TheLordofMetroids You mean like selling pizza or pasta without being italian? i mean what's wrong with importing cool ideas from other countries that don't get offered in yours and make them known to the general public? and get profit from it. I'm from spain and everywhere abroad i see people selling spanish paella that has literally nothing to do with the original, with chorizo, beef and many other strange ingredients on it but people in my country (or at least the huge majority) won't consider it "appropiating our culture" just a bad attempt of copying one of the good things that are hard to come by outside of our country. Celebrating Halloween in europe can be considered "cultural appropiation"? Or movies about Greek mythology from not greek companies? Thor can be considered cultural appropiation too? Culture has been historically something that people have shared and mixed on many occasions, taking the good/cool things from other cultures and incorporating them to grow and improve, like inventions or rule systems such as democracy.
@TheLordofMetroids
@TheLordofMetroids Жыл бұрын
@@francesccampos1343 No, If you acknowledge the culture you got it from, its not appropriation. It's only appropriation when you intend to diminish, or hide the other culture with your selling of the product. Using your pizza example. It's "I invented pizza, this isn't Italian, no one in the world before me invented Pizza."
@nonethelesszero7950
@nonethelesszero7950 Жыл бұрын
Cultural appropriation refers to the use of important cultural realities (from some other culture) in a way that gives you a benefit while not giving honor to the culture of origin--or, even worse--dishonoring the culture of origin. If a different culture has an important symbol or way of living and you use to be cool in your culture while inherently being disrespectful to the other culture, you're appropriating culture. Food rarely crosses this line unless it is a very special food with a special meaning in the culture of origin. Here's a better hypothetical: some culture has a symbolic way of dressing that is meant to convey purity and honor. Some people elsewhere use that style of dress in a movie as a prop to a series of illicit seduction scenes (which inherently has the opposite meaning of purity and honor). It's fundamentally disrespectful to the original culture.
@francesccampos1343
@francesccampos1343 Жыл бұрын
@@nonethelesszero7950 I can understand this if it were the people from that specific culture the ones who complain, not some random people who has nothing to do with that culture who think they act as the morality judges. As i said with Ghost of Tsushima the ones complaining were americans while Japanese people were proud about the job they did reflecting their nation.

An early draft of a book that was never released and was later completely rewritten or in some cases had parts cannibalized to go into other books. Nothing in them is considered canon but they are fun "curiosities" for some folks, I think especially aspiring writers to see "behind the curtain" at how a story evolves.
