I just came from a lecture she gave today! She is an intelligent woman, with such a great presence. And she signed my book!

Words can not express my love for this book. I enjoyed each one of the characters; the book gave me a sense of connection to my own family migration. I just wished my family were readers; there is so much rich history and self worth expressed in this book; it was well written and well put together. Thank you to the author

I wish I had known enough to ask my great aunts, uncles and grandmother abt their migration from TN, but I didn't know it was a big deal. From TN they spread out to Chicago, Decatur, IL, Indiana and Michigan and never moved back. We always hold reunions in TN and now I know why, at one time it was home. I just ordered this book, can't wait to read it.

She is phenomenal! It would be much better if it was just her talking. The interviewer was more like an interrogator.

A great piece of work! An American treasure. I am a child of the Great Migration-from Waynesboro to Boston, Mass. I would love to see and hear Isabel in person, missed her when she came to USC in Columbia, SC just after I read the book!

Why the interrogations style of questioning as though some how he has suspicion of untruths? His tone of questioning may "possibly" speaks directly to his very own biases towards black people AND also displays his rankings in his own mind of his own feelings of superiority and privilege. I hated his questioning! I LOVE her responses! It felt like he did not want her beautiful work to simply breath. It felt like he kept his finger on the oxygen, letting a little bit out at a time. It is FEBRUARY 2024 go see ORGIN of our discontent! It explains a bit of what we see here. Orgin is her latest book and is in theaters now!. This film is worthy of viewing more than once! 🙏 I'm taking a second group of middle school students next week! See Orgin, and i believe this interview will make more sense! Wow

I "liked" this for Isabel, but this interviewer is kind of a jerk. Tons of microaggressions, this was eight years ago, but eight years ago was 2010!

The interviewer seemed like a present day George Wallace. Sadly, he probably doesn’t realize it.

Ugh the interviewer is grilling not interviewing. To cold, not connected, not acknowledging, not pausing to absorb not in conversation…. It’s coming across like a cross examination. IMO

Ok, I thought it was just me. He seemed like he was just spitting out questions and just going through the motions.

The interviewer appears to be unsympathetic and subtly hostile to Isabel.
