I'm a US Marine, and when I got out I was a professional (not classically trained) chef for 15 years. I find there to be a lot of similarities in the way that you become close to the people you work with. There's the crunch of preparation, and no one wants to be the guy getting carried. There's the crunch of battle/service where there's no way to really plan how it's going to go, you just have to be ready for anything. And when someone is getting hit harder than the rest there's that sense of rallying around them to make sure they make it through. Obviously the severity is night and day. But they are all the same itches getting scratched. They really forms same tight bonds.

I'm glad that your sense of urgency as you call it doesn't translate onto the screen. With TikTok being so popular a lot of my favorite KZbinrs have resorted to lots of fast cuts and hasty editing and talking quickly - that stresses me out to watch and I don't retain the information. It's actually what forced me to move out of my normal circle of KZbinrs and find you, and you're my #1 now

You know, a lot of foodtubers collab with other foodtubers and celeb chefs. I would love to see you tackle a different angle given your restaurant experience: collab with your chef buddies! Or if it works out with the travel stuff, collab with chefs in restaurants in the places you go to! It would be a super cool way to support local restaurants, get those places some publicity to an audience they might not reach otherwise, and just a great way to showcase what's going on behind the scenes. Long time fan, first time commenter. I first caught you on Weeds and Sardines and noticed a Schnucks food label which prompted me to research who you were in the St. Louis food world. As a fellow St. Louis resident I was proud that you were representing us. I too am a Bourdain fan along with ATK, Pepin, Childs, the early years of Alton Brown, and the infamous Jeffrey Smith. I immediately look at a KZbinr's technology and screen presence to see if I want to follow them, you immediately passed the test. Since then I have enjoyed your show and found roasted spaghetti squash as a new real food. Thanks for sharing your talents.

Honestly, imo y'all don't need to be so strict as to keep this a solely food recipe channel. Honestly if you're on vacation and don't mind trying out some vlogging, go for it! If it's fun to film your experiences and the editing isn't too different and difficult on a trip, give it a shot. Random content that showcases you guy's already awesome personalities could be like a grocery/farmers market run? From something that still value adds to cooks, slowly to something more casual and fun like vlogging

Best food content on KZbin that’s true to the science as well as serious eats but is more directed to every day cooks who can follow easy recipes that will produce excellent results! Love that you’re from Chicago as I am until I moved to FL recently and you’ve proven time after time you know how to cook great food! I would buy your cookbook in a heartbeat regardless the price. Keep providing content and I hope you hit 3 million followers soon.

I think I have been here since around 29,000 subs. I am so happy for your success. Lorn is adorable and I think she should be featured in more videos. Make her your sous chef!

Brian, I’ve made your Detroit style pizza for my friends a couple times, and they still bring up how fucking good it is. You’ve got something really special, and I trust you implicitly when it comes to cooking. Can’t wait to see you hit a million! Cheers brother

I love that the algorithm got this right! I've been telling my wife for weeks all the different meals I'm going to make her from your channel. However, I'm really surprised I haven't seen anyone ask about the chorizo stuffed dates?!? That would be an amazing video!!

The reason you have been successful is because you realized that having friends is detrimental to meeting your goals. A tight circle is key to getting where you need to go.

I randomly saw one of your vids & been hooked the past couple of days. I had to watch the Q&A. I love Lorn (Lauren)! Something about her just makes me smile. You both seem like great ppl. I would definitely hang with you guys. I live in NY though 🙁 Anyways, I'm happy you are on KZbin. You do something really special & share it in an amazing way.

You are the only cook youtuber i ve followed to encourage myself on baking. It always seemed like out of my league, and you make it look pro but nothing like JUST a pro can do. Heck, you even show alternatives when you dont have a stand mixer. So thank you brian, i love your content Pd: my goal is to try all your pizza techniques hahaha

Brian, MY GUY, you have made the impossible possible. My family is difficult to find gifts for on occasions like birthdays, Mother's/Father's Day, and Christmas (Also I am poor college student). Instead, I find a Bri-Guy video and make everyone a delicious meal for the occasion, and it lands better than any gift I have ever given. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Great video, as always, good job BL. You mentioned earlier in this episode, questions about menu/selections; topic material for future shows. Suggestion: Break out the wok and go SE Asian. Work with more vegetables & sauces like fish sauce, soy, hoisin, oyster, etc. Suggestion: Put together flat bread items, break out the lamb.. gyros, and other stuff mediterranean/Indian, etc. And cuz you're a baker, play with some german cake recipes, or Old English breads??

Thanks and congratulations on the success of your channel. You are such an inspiration for me and you make your recipes easy for me to follow. Please keep up the great work! This is my first time seeing "Lorn" and she's a sweetheart. 😁 I look forward to many more videos and recipes. And I would definitely by a cookbook of yours!!!

We love Lorn!! And your gorgeous cat who’s name I didn’t quite catch!! FWIW I love the weeknighting vids and would even benefit from a roast sweet potato + broccoli + chicken situation because your tips and tricks and precision are the reason I appreciate the videos so much. We can all put sweet potato in the oven thickness, pre-prep, length of cooking, best temp etc. that’s what I come to you for. And I know you’ve tested it and tweaked it, whereas frankly, with a lot of the cookbooks I’ve cooked from over the years, it’s been clear no human has actually made the recipe. So, thanks for being a great instructor and creator.

Nice to see this side of you. I've followed a variety of TV and KZbin cooks, from Alton Brown, Kenji Lopez-Alt, Adam Ragusea, and Chad. You all offer a nice mix of personality and smart advice and this home cook loves learning new things, because you can teach an old dog new tricks. You do a great job of personality, information, pacing to be very watchable and likeable.
