I’m a Beta tester for the V3 Sodium system, so far it’s been amazing. Mileage, performance, and installation just great. Price is unbelievable and Jacks customer service can’t be topped. I highly recommend the new system.

It seems to have only the same power as a NiHM battery from the spec sheet on the Nexpower website. How much better is mileage and performance? Capacity is only 10% more, and power is the same, it seems. This is a lot more to pay for Sodium than NiHM here in Australia, as you can get a replacement NiHM for around $1,000aud ($650 US) with 3 year warranty.

@@John-p7i5g well do what you think is best and can afford. This is a new chemistry for the hybrid/electric vehicle market. So far my mileage is comparable to all the related batteries. This sodium system works very well in my 2015 Prius 3. I have 232,700 miles and things are good. 47-51 mpg. I live in a hot climate so the temperature range of sodium is appealing. Jack is trying to fill a void in the battery market. I am pleased with the results so far.

The non plugin version of the Prius doesn't make a really good plug in Prius. This is because anytime you're going much over 30 miles an hour the engine has to spin. Even if you're just coasting downhill in drive. It just wasn't designed to be a plugin version. If you want a plug-in hybrid it's better to sell the Prius and buy the plug-in Prius.
@lavatrip93446 ай бұрын
And there's not very much horsepower available from the battery. Most likely because of the programming which is tuned to the size of the wire connecting the Prius electric motors to the battery in the back. It's a long skinny wire. So in order to make it into a plug-in Prius you would need better horsepower from the battery so you would need to reprogram several ECUs and upgrade the size of the wire as well as purchased a very expensive much much larger battery. And I mean in physical size as well. So you'd have to put it somewhere. Maybe delete the spare tire? I don't know there's just too much to convert to make it worth it when you could simply sell your Prius and buy a plug-in Prius.

Can you do a comparison video of the lithium battery blades vs the salt battery blades. I see both are better and less expensive and I already have the lithium but it would be helpful to see a side by side comparison. Should I swap in the sodium blades before driving to certain areas?

Hello, I live in south America, where is really hot and super humid.. My cells become unbalance due to parking my car for 2 months several times.. I have also had the problem of the battery ecu plug short circuit and burning and have had to fix several times.. 1st. question How will this battery do with car parked for 2 or 3 months, would cells become unbalanced? Have you tested this? 2nd. Will the V3 or V3 GT version be better for this? 3rd. Where did you source your ecu female plug for the battery ecu? I need one desperately.. 4th. Will you be shipping anywhere near Ecuador or can I just buy it from china directly from you? Thanks!

How did you adjusted BMS to handle different charasteristic of sodium ion batteries? Will you plan to create sodium ion pack for Plug-in Prius Gen1? I think I would coose a sodium pack instead of lithium type due to safety reasons.

@ByteFilm6 ай бұрын
Why can't the high capacity battery also have low internal resistance?
@scottsloan41154 ай бұрын
This guy doesn't include a bms that manages individual cells. The prius itself only manages them in groups of 5, meaning that within that group of 5, each cell will slowly become unbalanced until some of them fail. This is why his products have a high failure rate after a couple of years (he sold off the rest of his lithium batteries without any warranty after giving up on them). Just because sodium can handle more abuse than lithium doesnt mean this safety hazzard is "fixed." Basically, this is a scam until he makes a product with a real BMS. If you dont know why a BMS is important, this is not a project you should be starting.

Collectively reasoning unless it can give you better gas mileage MPG then it would seem that actual advantage for purchasing this supposed uprade would be more 30-40% because it could last longer.

Would this be possible in the future for a 2019 Camry Hybrid? Edit: I watched videos by John Sullivan and I think he is right and you need to engineer your products better from a safety and build quality point of view. I think taking constructive criticism well and using that to better design your product is a good idea.

I’m in Texas and concerned about heat. My battery runs about 25F hotter than ambient temperature while running the a/c. This year it’s not so bad, the battery had only gotten up to 127F. I run Car Scanner to monitor while driving. But last year it got up to 136F, which doesn’t leave much room if a battery is rated for 140F. Have you tested these sodium batteries in really hot weather?
@douglaskaye13955 ай бұрын
I live outside of Houston and I’ve been a beta tester for the V3 since February. It’s has been hot here and this sodium system has been flawless so far. Heat does affect the performance. The cold temperatures do affect mileage, but that’s a standard reaction in the Lipo, and Nimh system as well.
@dalegreer30955 ай бұрын
@@douglaskaye1395 Thanks for that info! Yeah, I don't mind if the performance is affected, as long as it doesn't kill it. Last year there were times when I only got 35 mpg because the battery wasn't doing well at 110F. It had me worried because that was my first summer with the car, but the battery bounced back as soon as cooler temps came in. This summer it's barely getting over 100, and I'm getting around 44 mpg. Good to know the sodium bounces back too!
