My girlfriend and I were just discussing last night how there is an insane amount of options for men’s selvage, but not for women. We kinda basically decided it probably has to do with the comfort thing, most women prefer jeans to be instantly comfy, selvage can have an extensive break in period. We both think a lot of women wouldn’t be into it, but it would be cool if more brands had a few women’s options. One brand who has been doing selvage for women recently is BraveStar, have not seen the women’s jeans but their men’s are pretty rad for the price.

I also think it is about the demand. There is not a lot of demand for raw denim for women. My girl would never touch the stuff. Too uncomfortable and the fits dont work for her.

@@CeeAreDee Hi, literally found your video because I'm so frustrated trying to find good denim jeans for women! I'd love to wear them, it just seems like nobody makes them that aren't super stretchy, which is not what I want. I grew up wearing 12 oz duck Carhartt work pants and I just want something *nicer* that doesn't look like I'm about to go to a construction site.

Chippewa is still in business, they are owned by Justin. I have a pair of their “1949” engineers, which were based off their original engineer model.

Would it be possible to get a video where you go over denim cast? I've been getting into raw denim in the past year and love the hobby, but have no clue when something is red or green cast. I have a pair of cone mills brave stars which definitely have a green undertone but they are synthetic indigo which I thought had a red cast. Anyway it would be great to see examples and have a video going over it, as there's nothing out there on youtube at the moment.

In defence of Chippewa my wife has had a pair of their 6 inch engineers (Pierce) for 3 years now, they have been great and also converted her to quality footwear!

As a guy who can't fit into men's jeans. I always have to go for women's cuts. A.P.C makes a womens version of their standard straight cut raw jeans. That goes all the way down to size 24 Also vintage Helmut Lang jeans, insanely hard to find raw but a lot of people consider them the most flattering jeans to ever exist. And I cannot disagree. I'd love for you to do a video on some vintage Lang jeans.

What sucks about Women's raw denim is that (as far as I can tell), there are no companies making jeans for women with hips. The largest size I've seen is a 34" waist from N&F. The men's sized may go into the 40s, but the women's stop at a US 12.

A complete picture! Let me explain! Not all jeans are suitable to wear with boots or cowboy boots. Some jeans that you wear “over” the jeans will fault at the top of the vamp. So that is why it would be beneficial if you have a “complete picture”. Wearing jeans over the boots in such a way that ,jeans suit the boots. For example Levi 501 will not work with all boots in my view. At some point from the distance looking in one can see a dimple at the top of the vamp. But if you wear “Tenue De Nimes Denim, Pablo Fit. It would work perfect. ( Cowboy boots) Now you see why we ask you how you wear these jeans? Not for a three musketeers performance ,oh no. Cheers

I thought red wing pecos were just pull on work boots and weren’t inspired by cowboy boots.

They were first designed by Red WIng when they pushed in to the southern states looking to capitalize on the oil fields and the oil workers down that way. They wanted the cowboy boot style but with a worker functionality. So non slip soles and stain/acid resistant leather. The Peco was the result.

Is there a reason why you don’t talk about Lees or Wranglers as much as Levis? Is it because these brands don’t do as much for the denim head community as mush as LVC?

Not so yay, not much to say on women’s raw/selvedge as there’s a woeful lack of it out there...Levis do a ride or die standard women’s raw denim 501 selvedge in their Made and Crafted collection..best I have tried from the little out there. COS does a raw denim selvedge with turn up for women but in my view the fit is just not great. Wish someone out there would cater better for this market but until then Levis are the best.
