3rd case: whhhhaaaat? "he doesn't know what he wants?" He KNOWS what he wants - listen to action not words!! His action says his wife and family is "important" if only it means he doesn't want to lose the house and custody. His action says he likes someone he controls, there is no love in this, there is power. I genuinely don't care if 18-20 year olds have their own jobs, live by themselves and pay for their own bills - no situation where a boss with 30 more years of life experience sees someone 30 years younger as an equal, he's a creep and took advantage of vulnerable youth - a "trusted" adult who distracts from a bad home situation. Only by legality is he not a pedophile! So 1, LEAVE, shelter, friends, somebody!! 2, counseling ASAP, there is clearly something happened at home that she'd consider a "relationship" with someone who took advantage of her.

2nd case: C'mon girl, be honest with yourself always, if being spoiled (whatever spoil is for you, gifts, quality time, good food you enjoy) is important to you then it *is* important! Don't deny your own feelings even that changes years later. We're all who are are at the present so be honest with yourself. Time, money, and attention are the *ONLY* measurement is what is important in life - not words. Reflect back, whatever is important to all of us trust me you'll find you spent a lot of time, money or attention on it if not all three. So if his money, time and attention is spent somewhere else, you're not important to the guy. If you stay it is saying to the world and yourself *you don't deserve* what you want. Your action needs to align with your intentions.

Get this- On my birthday my ex invited HIS friends to his house so we could pre-game and go out dancing. All his friends brought bottles which was nice of them. When it was time to leave, we were trying to figure out how many uber's we needed and my ex goes "wait a minute, who's paying?!" In my head I thought "oh wow, you didn't buy a single bottle and can't offer to pay for a ride?" We ended up splitting the total amount of 2 uber's. Instead of HIM saying "no babe, I got it. I'll pay your ride" His FRIEND didn't accept my $20 that i was trying to give him. This was after I spent 100's to throw a giant dinner party for him and his friends. Even got him concert tickets for his birthday! -_- THAT was the moment I realized he wasn't receptive with what I did. Our whole relationship he would breadcrumb me, I accepted it because I had low self esteem and didn't love myself enough. But many things happened that chipped at me that made me walk away!

i got into a relationship at the start of the pandemic and it ended just now (during the pandemic). sometimes i feel sad and lonely but talking to my friends, focusing on what makes me happy, etc. is what is helping me get through the breakup. it's also important to reflect on WHY it ended, as it was probably for the best..

Honestly really grateful for these kinds of podcasts talking about relationship warning signs and how to deal with them. I never quite grew up around parents who showed each other healthy love, and my mom was consistently depressed from the marriage since I was little. My mother is extremely altruistic, sometimes to a self-sabotaging level, and I've always grown up not wanting to exert myself beyond that kind of behavior to the point I become a pushover. But watching these podcasts and listening to anecdotal advice on the internet for the past few years has really nurtured me into a more all-around assertive person. Although I never know what may come and what may change if I ever get into a toxic relationship in the future, I at least hope that the advice that I absorb from this cast will help me get through or out of it if the situation ever arises. I really appreciate this podcast, you girls are like my older sisters ;-;

I’m currently going through a break up after 3 years of dating which I was a long distance relationship. I was always the only one trying and whenever I brought up our problems, he’d blame me that it was always my fault and then would always run away from it. I’d stay up crying almost every night because of how sad I felt in the relationship. Even when I broke down during our calls he’d never cared, but instead will tell me to stop crying cuz he wanted to go to sleep. I’d try bringing it up during the mornings or afternoons, but he would always tell me he was busy or didn’t want to talk about it cuz it was a small matter to him. I was dumb and I stayed with him because I still had some hopes that’s thing would work out. I tried so hard to fight for our relationship. For awhile, I just had a feeling in me where I knew he fell out of love a long time ago, but just wanted keep me around. Finally towards the end of our relationship, I finally made the move to break up with him. I wasn’t ready, but I know it was for my mental health. What I just hate the most is that the break up hurts me so much and he didn’t really seem to mind it at all. The last relationship question just made me think about my previous relationship because I always hoped that if my ex tried as much as that guy did in his relationship, would we still be together? But it’s ok. Though, it might take awhile for me to heal, I think I’ve got this...
@katerinayiannopoulou19193 жыл бұрын
Honey, this is me too! 5 years being together. I payed for everything and did all the travelling too. He created a hundred different issues on me and then he started travelling to see "friends" abroad. Never came to see me as easily as he went to all these other places, said if you did the math it was more expensive per mile to come to me! Turns out he is gay. Wasn't ever in love with me, just passing his time. I was just... comfortable, you see! I know the truth now but that doesn't help w/ my problems. What I am learning is that if I am in a relationship again I will keep doing things I want and not wait to do them w him. If I end up doing most things alone then I am not in a relationship but at least I haven't lost me. If they take u for granted they lose interest.
@FlavumSignum3 жыл бұрын
4th case - definition of toxic... short answer "yes" it is "wrong" to answer her calls. But the answer is that it is not wrong because he's "enabling her" but wrong because he has no boundary to shut that door for himself. You don't shut that door because the it harms *her* but because it ultimately is a *self-harming* behaviour - it harms *HIM* . There is deep issues that lead to addiction in the first place, the speech pattern speaks to his love for her but where was his love and respect for his own time, his own reputation, his own character? The Big Mood Girls said, guys who go above and beyond for relationships are quality people. A quality person deserves someone of quality also. Everybody made mistakes when they were young, so what if he was addict? He has to stop these calls to start the full cycle of healing - heal himself, demand the type of quality person he deserves also instead of wallowing in guilt that he may had a part of maybe his ex's devolution, so now he's self-harming not with drugs but with the calls that only hurts himself, his own reputation, his attention is on it, wasting his time... She's an adult, she too live with her own choices too.

The first question is almost exactly the same situation as my parents... 23 years of marriage and nothing has changed. The dad does nothing around the house : he just plays games, sleeps, wait for the food to be ready and work. He doesn't even help to pay the rent, heck he doesn't pay anything except for his cars. My mom works 6 days a week, comes home very late and she still has to make food for him. I hate seeing her like that. I don't understand how she's still with him and loves him?? Not having a dad is better than having a dad who doesn't fulfill the role of a caregiver and who doesn't show a bit of respect to the family.

Being someone who's never been in a relationship I'm obviously no expert on this stuff, but I imagine almost every relationship is effectively over the moment one of the parties feels the need to ask, "should we break up?"
@FlavumSignum3 жыл бұрын
1st case: The issue is, change happens only when people want to change. It is hard to change oneself even with one desires it fully, let alone if someone feels change is "forced" on them. I hate to say this, if years later a behaviour, a pattern, a habit is there and it bothers you - chances are that has been there since the beginning and the partner thinks that they can change them. You can't change the other, and your partner shouldn't change you either. Know yourself, know what you want and offer, find that person who can give you what you need and know you can give them what they need. That's a relationship.

I really liked this episode of of your podcast it was dead on! One situation I can relate to is the one with the guy and his drug problem and the lady he cared about. The reason I can relate so well is because I used care about this girl and I did so much for her. But I had a problem and so did she I ended up fall for her and she took total advantage of the situation between us. She knew that I had feelings for her but no matter what I did for her it was never good enough for her I helped her with her child and did so much more. It took a while for me to realize that she was using me and that she didn't give a shit about my feelings as well. To much to go into details cause this would really be a long text. But now I'm 48 and when I look back to that time that I wasted what a tragic loss I wasted time that I will never get back when I could have spent it on more things worth while. I just hope that the guy got clean again and moved on with his life and is doing better. This podcast really hit me cause I know how he's feeling. Nicely done ladies keep it up!!!

100% with Jess on the porn, cam girl and direct line sexual contact thing. Get that shit out of your relationship if you respect your woman and adore her 100%.

Just to speak to the single mom's out there, be careful when choosing a man. Child or not obviously but a lot of men also think because they get with a woman with a child that their girlfriend will dote on them 24/7. That she'll automatically be the stereotypical "wifey" material and stay at home to do the cooking and cleaning like maybe their own mother has. That can lead to the abuse of power of solely relying on the man for income and security. Not saying that's a horrid lifestyle, given if it's a healthy relationship, but if you're young it might not be so easy to just flip the switch from teen/young adult to "perfect mother and wife." Find someone who is patient and loves you for you and not their preconceived expectations of you.

Yes, more "Back to the streets". Your opinions are entertaining. Plus I want to see the graphics for that catchphrase. How about "Hit the sheets" for staying together. Implying pillow-talk, communication or the more carnal interpretation.
