I appreciate that you ask "Did I answer your question?" after you have finished your response. It's so thoughtful, courteous and shows respect to your guests, great job Jamie! Your podcast is insightful and often a deep dive into "behind the scenes" of mid to late 90's skateboarding.

@@ThrillOfItAll Jamie huge influence man. I came up in a small Minnesota town nobody really skated around me so I had to make my own scene, always vibed with that outcast feeling and u were one of the first influences I had growing up. I’ll always remember the smell of the gas heater in my parents garage when I’d be skating thru the winter. Huge supporter man ZERO FOR LIFE

Hey Jamie, I love this style of video, it's great just hearing you chilling and chatting with people. When I was a kid it was amazing to have a role model to look up to who was openly a believer - I guess being into skating was kinda part of my 'rebellion' as a young kid and so the fact you were my favourite skater, and the Zero brand was so cool, and yet you had the cross graphics and were clearly recognisable as a believer made faith seem so much more appealing and compatable with the 'rebellious' identity I wanted to craft for myself. It's sick hearing you talk about your faith so openly and honestly still and posting scripture on your Instagram story and stuff is such an encouragement. I pray for you and your family from time to time and I'm glad you're blessed by your church. Really enjoyed the rest of the video, too. Looking forward to the podcasts/videos to come in the future!

There's such an awesome organic feel to these podcasts that I love, it's below surface level, professional and paints a clear picture of what it's like to be in your shoes or even to just have everything really Sync parallel to our lives and experiences. There's so much more to listen to and learn from and all your wisdom is certainly being passed down to the masses through this show. You have positive mind and a heavy motivation to get shit done, whether it has to do with skating or not. It's cool to hear your perspective and share your truths 👊🏼👊🏼

Hi Jamie, been a fan since 2004 and really loving the podcasts. Glad to see you talking about your Faith. Keep praying for wisdom and God will give you guidance. You mentioned the verse in the podcast. Proverbs 3:5-6: 'Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths'. God bless.

I've got to say, I really appreciate the fact that you don't go heavily into politics. Nothing sucks worse than hearing one of your favorite skater/musician/whatever talking condescendingly about people who disagree with them. People tune in for a good time, not to be lumped into a group their hero is talking trash about.

I'm 32 now and broke my scaphoid at 29. I started skateboarding when I was 6 and didn't have anything more serious than a rolled ankle, heel bruise, or muscle tear until that point. Being older and getting hurt definitely changed my outlook, it shook my confidence. Something I've thought about over the last few years is how strongly "teenage invincibility" stayed with me. Not that I ever felt the need to be reckless or jump down anything that caught my eye but I wasn't ever afraid of much. Having a healthy fear and respect for the things you skate, be it a particular trick on a ledge, handrail, or set of stairs is necessary.

Jamie, you’ve been my favorite skateboarder since I got my first board in 99, and I’ve ridden exclusively Zero since then. It’s so cool hearing your personal experiences behind all the gnarly stuff I watched on your video parts. Thanks for sharing!

Jamie, I can totally relate to when you were talking about your knee injury and being down and just wishing you could roll around and cruise or ollie... I blew my knee out back when I was 18... never really got back on board after until this year... TWENTY years later. fear of reinjury and not being able to work and support myself kept me from really getting back into it. However, last year I realized how deep my love for skating was, and how miserable I've become without it in my life. I don't have half of my trick bag back yet, and if they don't all come back, I really don't care. It just feels amazing to go to the park and fly around and ollie and grind everything in sight!

Great topic about the injuries. When you're a kid you just bounce back no worries. But when your in your 30s or older and you go down you go down ... You don't bounce back and you have to deal not just with that but with all your responsibilities (work, kids, ... ). As a kids when you're out, you're out. When you're older you have actually people depending on you and it's really tough when you're injured badly that feeling of letting people down.

This was a rad QA, Jamie. I like the channel alot. I skated at Freedom Plaza almost daily in the early 90's, and I remember when you rode for Experience, and you came through with Drake Jones. I think you were on your way to Cali for the first time if I remember right. This was probably 92' or 93'. You did some gnarly stuff including bs 180ing the gap out onto Pennsylvania Avenue where you had to ollie up onto the ledge first. That was something no one before except Sean Sheffey or Brian Tucci would have thought to do there, but you did it. Anyway, I thought this would be my one moment to let you know how cool it's been to watch your career over the years, and what impact you've had on skating having started from basically nothing but a desire and love for it. When you came through with Drake, you were in a beat up car, and probably didn't have much money, but you followed your dream. You'll alway's be an inspiration. Keep the channel going, and best wishes to you and your family, Dan.

They don't repair ACL's using cadaver ligaments anymore. They replace the torn part of your ACL with part of your hamstring. It actually ends up making your ACL stronger, so it won't tear again.
@ThrillOfItAll6 жыл бұрын
thanks for watching the show, but doctors actually still do use cadavers, each doctor has a preference though. Also, an achilles cadaver ligament is arguably stronger than a thrice wrapped semi-tendinosis, but to each his own.

I never knew Jamie's wife was Asian. That's cool to know because I've been a little skeptical of what some of his views are in the past because of the fact that 1) he's from Alabama (I know not all southerners think the same...I'm southern myself) and 2) He's made a Zero board with the Confederate battle flag in the graphic. Of course that's not a given that he's some racist or fascist neo-Confederate far right loon or anything but it just made me wonder. The fact he married a non-white woman...and the fact he's said before that all he cared about in highschool was getting the fuck out of Alabama and moving to California pretty much answers these concerns I had. lol

This fuckin' guy. The 9C has their own niche. In case you haven't noticed there's a long-form DIY media thing happening right now with podcasts and youtube-- and it's allowing these types of shows to happen without being compromised by the commercialization and restrictions of gatekeeping traditional media outlets. It's a lot of work and devotion to do this stuff-- so the least we can do is have some respect and courtesy bruh.
