I have become very fond of anything paper pieced. I order pre printed pads of Sew Emma paper blocks from Amazon

I love the kaleidoscope block, which gives the illusion of circular movement when alternating lights and darks, even when all of the seams are straight.

I love star patterns. I like the log cabin pattern and especially the carpenters star

I like Arkansas crossroads- easy to make with scraps. I’m really trying to use up my scraps before I start a new project with “fresh” fabric. I’m hoping to make a storm at sea quilt.

Fan. I keep mine scrappy with one consistent color as 1/4 circle fan corner. Always a white background.

I like the LeMoyne Star - I have only done one as a sample and know that I need to work on getting those points more accurate. I also like the visual impressions of an Irish Chain and the Friendship Star, but have not built those, yet. Mostly, I have just been piecing together various scraps (aka crumbs, small strips) to get more comfortable with the 1/4” seam allowance. That is the biggest obstacle for this garment sewer to conquer.

This is a good question! Mine is usually the block I enjoy making at the moment. Right now its the Grecian Square block that Beth at my sewing room showed on her channel well over a year ago. It is quick and easy and gives a dramatic result. I'm doing it in my free time so that may be why its my favorite. I've made 13 of 20 total so far in my favorite color, purple, and neutrals. Your favorite block is pretty. I'd like to try that one one day.

Hi Laura I love the look of the Lemoyne Star…..but have never done one as yet…..the one pattern I have made and I’ve done several is the turning twenty ……it’s fast and fun and the look is so different with the fabrics chosen, of course I love Batiks best… 😊

I love rag-time blocks because you are quilting and piecing at the same time and don't need binding.

This is kinda hard to answer ,I have quilted all kinds and still have lots to try out ,,I like a sampler style quilt,,also a scrappy style, maybe the irish chain, traditional for sure,,Oh I give up,❤ them all just about, but I don't like really complicated ones, I have found that out,I enjoy just putting my scraps together in controlled scrappy, the most I think. I enjoy a tiny 2 inch scrappy square ,when sewn in,, its one and a half inches, those are fun. Also, have done loads of hand quilting hexie quilts, I am on my third ,but its really big so its gonna take awhile. Oh, I forgot dresdens love them ,,,,OH my !!you have opened up a can of worms!!!!😂

Hi, I have an off-topic question. My pattern envelope says “not suitable for obvious diagonals” in regards to fabric, and I don’t know what that means. I would appreciate if you could mention this, thanks!
