🇨🇦There’s just something about that moment when your offspring, no matter what their age, says, “I’m getting hungry”, that makes parents want to get to the kitchen as soon as they can, or jump in the car to head to a restaurant. From my perspective as the parent of a 34 year old daughter, it’s still a great pleasure to enjoy a meal and share our lives while we eat. I expect that living in France gives you all exceptional opportunities to eat some of the best food in the world.

My father in-law served with the Army in France during World War III. He love the French people. My husband born in France at that time since his wife moved with him at a little military town called Bussac, I believe that may be the correct spelling. I like to see that little town through your tours in France. Thank you Sean and family.

I agree with you Sam, the French think we English are mad in buying old barns/properties in rural France to convert into a house, still not finished after 15 years, then Rome was not built in a day😂, continue your journey renovating your lovely property, you are such a lovely family❤

Hi from me, a Scottish lady 56 yrs old, moved to South of Spain, Benalmádena, when I was 17; 39 yrs ago, so yeah, I know what you mean about the immigration matter. I agree, people are people, how they were born, some will accept you without a second thought, others in time, and others just don't. I love your projects and videos, it's given a whole new light to France, imo.

For those wondering about the woodworm. French buildings used earth as an insulator, and sound reducer, that was one method of how woodworm came in during construction. Others came in from contaminated products. Water intrusion around doors and windows causes a bigger wood rot problem to floors and joists then just worm damage.

@@juliad368 Oh, that's interesting. They probably were relatives. . I am in the N.E. USA. because (Francois Belanger) left Normandy in 1635 on Capt. Giffords ship.. , They came to Canada, landed at the mouth of St. Lawrence River in "The New France", (Quebec). But All of his (Francois) family was still in Normandy area. His father was also named Francois, born late 1500's. That's as far back as I have been able to go. Interesting history... I think that is why I am SO drawn to that area.

Aw, this was so nice. We've been hosting our daughter, son-in-law, their Alaskan Malamute and beaded dragon for a few days. Their house is being fumigated and they had to stay someplace that would allow their dog. I've been so happy to have her under our roof again. It's so great to see parents with grown kids who actually enjoy being together. Have a great week and Sam, I'm voting for you to get that ladder outside the cottage for potted plants! 💚

Setting up a business is an interesting matter. In some countries, particularly in Germany, quite a few types of businesses require proof of qualifications, usually a fairly strict process. In Austria it's even worse, there's something like four fields you can simply register a business in without extensive training and exams and everything. Even working as a professional photographer used to require an apprenticeship and master's course until a few years ago! It's usually justified with quality control and health & safety but it's also deeply rooted in the traditional system of the guilds and trying to keep competition under control. There are some quite strange exceptions as well, e.g. if you hold any (!) university degree you can open a bar or restaurant without any courses or proof of qualifications. Not quite sure why an MA in linguistics or history would make you more suitable than having worked in hospitality for years, just to give an example.

Fascinating ! I am off to look at the Cassini maps !!! You are lucky to have your kids help with the vlog.. Mine are too busy (one has twin six year olds!) and my son has a wife with RA and they look after her elderly mother who was rescued during Covid when she was alone and isolated. My Nearest and Dearest and I are trying to find our way around cameras. remotes, sound and video. You all do such a good job..and inspiration ! He is very ill so it is good to have something to do and at least have a laugh ! P.S. Found our little town on the map..but not much detail. It was very important in the 13th century (had a bridge over the river), but it faded away and is now only a fuzzy crossroads on a Cassini map! Thanks for the information, though! I am originally from Hertfordshire, live in Texas, have a house in Haute Vienne. See you all one day in Normandy!!
