When you hit a weight plateau despite exercising, you are building muscle and deflating fat cells (you never really "lose" fat). The way you look and the way your clothes fit are better measures than weight is. 😊

Arlo Guthrie is the Guthrie you were wondering about. My ear piercing story is similar to your's for several reasons. I was in HS, wanted pierced ears. My mother stated "you have enough holes in your head...NO!" So I pierced my own with a needle...no ice or potatoe...didn't go over well to say the least. I am thinking that I have read that we shouldn't weigh ourselves everyday...that if we are trying to lose weight, to weigh ourselves once a week is safer as usually in a week, if we are watching what we're eating, we should see some decrease on the scale in that time and we can be more motivated. This is the time of Whiter Shade of Pale by Procol Harem that no one knew what they were singing about. It was the year of my first truly overt gay experience, and my life changed forever. I got an earring in my left ear when I was about 21. Left, because at that time in Holland, having an earring in your right ear would be a hint that you’re gay. And although I’d been openly gay since I was 16, I didn’t want to have a kind of extra signal advertising that. (Looking at pictures from back then I guess I didn’t quite have the right image of myself, because with the ring, I looked properly gay!). A few days after I came home with it, my dad gave me a cartoon he cut out of a newspaper, which showed a dad and son, with the following conversation: But son, why would you get an earring?? Dad, I just want to be different, like everybody else! 😂

I think this is the video where you talk about living in Florida. I know what you mean about the Clearwater area near Tampa. I loved it when we traveled there a couple of years ago. It's so beautiful. We're happy where we are but that could easily be an alternate for us. I don't like or agree with the politics but I could hold my nose and reject it.

I don't know what happened to him. I moved to Boston, he stayed in his profession. We lost touch. Mind you, this is before the internet was what it is today. Personally, I believe he's passed away long ago. Many of my friends from those days died from HIV/AIDS. There's no way to say how many stand-by passengers get on board. There are too many variables. That's one reason so many of us find buddy passes to be kind of a waste. All too often they are too much of a hassle.
