I have high LDL type C cholesterol. I took Zetia-- couldn’t take statins. I am on a wfpb diet, and Zetia did nothing to lower the LDL. So, I’m on Repatha that creates more LDL receptors in the liver. My LDL type C is finally coming down. Most plant based doctors probably wouldn’t agree with this, but it’s working. And I’m continuing a wfpb diet as a permanent lifestyle change.

I think heating or cooking bananas halts the oxidation that interferes with flavanol absorption from blueberries. What I have always done is to cut half a banana into chunks and cook with the oatmeal where it melts/dissolves and sweetens the oatmeal. Then add blueberries along with strawberries.

This comment is referring to the shingles vaccine. Another consideration is a person with active shingles can give a child under age one chicken pox. I was hesitant to get my shingles vaccine. When I started feeling pain in my neck and head for a week I didn't understand what was going on with me. When I realized and got treated for shingles it was too late. During this time I did child care for my 8 month old grandson. I gave my grandson chicken pox. He was a very sick little boy.

Re Blueberries with bananas in smoothies. I read the study. They didn't actually mix the Blueberries with the banana. They mixed banana with flavonol pills. I think the result would be different if they mixed fruit together.Blueberries have fiber etc., that would protect its flavonol. So I am disregarding this study.

Thank you for sharing this information. My new favorite apples are Autumn Glory, Lucy Glo, and Lucy Rose. I have only been able to find the Lucy Glo and Lucy Rose at Sprouts. The closest Sprouts to me is 2 hours away. Whenever I travel, I love to shop in stores I don't have in my area for different varieties of apples. I own a MARCY recumbent bike, and each time I ride it tells me time, speed, distance, and calories. Each time I ride I clear the information, from the previous ride but it keeps track of my total miles from day one.

I was diagnosed with osteoarthritis in my knees, and it helps with the pain. It has made a huge difference. I love walking outdoors with my husband and dog, but sometimes, I can't due to the weather.

Osteo-necrosis can be treated with stem cell therapy if treated early enough. But it’s still relative new. It’s a treatment that’s been used and developed in India. And now made its way to UK used for cosmetic treatment like in the face to keep you looking young, but can also be used if early enough for hips. Back in 2010 my bro got non-hodgkinson lymphoma, he was put onto a research treatment plan called SMART which after became a standard treatment. Part of that treatment was to have stem cell therapy once the cancer had gone into remission. However they couldn’t get healthy stem cells due to the chemo so now, he’s had rods in his arms to help save his elbows (as that’s high risk op and likely to be amputated) 2 shoulders cleaned out, hips replaced on both sides, 2 knees cleaned out and now he needs an op on both his ankles, in which he’ll be able to move them up and down but not left to right.

I contacted Dr. Weiss's office today. I have reached out to every major medical center in the country and even spoke to Dr. Esselstyn. I have genetic HeFH and also genetic sitosterolemia. Sitosterolemia is a very very rare disorder that means I absorb cholesterol from plant sterols. As a WFPB diet follower this is quite frustrating. Beans, lentils, broccoli, oatmeal are all high in plant sterols. Plant oils, nuts, and seeds, avocados are completely off limits. I am frustrated and no one knows what is safe or not safe for me.

JERSEY GIRL - I'm not sure how to contact the writer of the surgery question, but Dr Weiss missed the mark with the pre-surgery advice. The point of the CLEAR ensure drink is to carb load before surgery WHILE allowing the bowels to empty before surgery (by not eating solid food) for robotic surgery. Often CLEAR apple juice (make sure you don't see apple particles in it) can be substituted for the Ensure drink - ask your surgeon. You shouldn't eat WFPB the day before surgery, if your surgeon wants you on clear liquids. I don't believe Dr Weiss is familiar with ERAS (enhanced recovery after surgery) protocol. My advice - double check with surgeon but you can just drink water and apple juice the day before surgery.

Oats, then add a smoothie, banana and frozen strawberry or frozen mango or frozen mixed berries, I then add sliced banana, blueberries and a combination of one or more of the following flaxseed, mixed seed, Brazil nuts, desiccated coconut, but nuts and seeds I have very little to non to keep daily fat down.

@McGx3
@McGx3 14 күн бұрын
In high school I hurt my tailbone badly going down a real toboggan slide. Then a couple years later while biking pain came back. I tolerated the pain then a cyst developed and it abscessed. Doctor had me take hot baths until the abscess broke then infection went away. Some people have to have surgery as their abscess was the size of a baseball. A bosses wife knew what I had and said she didn’t know if child birth was worse or the abscess on the tailbone. It came and went for over 10 years. The last time it abscessed I pulled hundreds of hairs out of the abscess then it finally healed and stopped draining. I don’t remember the name of the condition.

If you have LP(a) it can not be modified by diet. I just keep everything as healthy as possible by eating WFPB, and exercise.but right now there is no way to reduce Lipoprotein (a). except through apheresis US doctors are very slow to realize this and about 20% of all people are afflicted with it. Europe is ahead of us in that area although the US researchers are working on a drug to control it. I have had 3 strokes because of elevated LP(a).
@nancyd7441
@nancyd7441 12 күн бұрын
There are not enough studies done on diet & Lp(a) only one. When I learned my Lp(a) was elevated I got the # down by cutting out all dairy, limiting coconut, & oils. Added back more oil ( EVO) # went up , out of my meals again & down it went.( my experience) In some European countries they recc. 1 test in a lifetime.. Without retesting how would one know if the # is or is not fluctuating. The med study here headed by Dr. Sam Tsimakis ,I believe ,will be completed next year .
