My brother is 22 months younger than me. They had him tested because he didn't talk. The diagnosis was me - the older sister. I spoke for him so he didn't need to. When he did, he was talking in full sentences. It is 38 years later and I still try to take care of him. Big sisters be like that.

My family was like that too! I had a brother 2 years 18 days younger than me, and I was told he wouldn't talk so they put him into speech but then I would always tell everyone what he wanted so he wouldn't speak (I wish there was a video but glad they told me the story)

In re Zade's speech, my son didn't talk until 3 but he spoke in full sentences when he started. He was an observer and took everything in until he could speak well. You guys are the best!!

We just celebrated our 26th wedding anniversary on the 12th and we have always had separate checking accounts. We don't even bank at the same bank, as long as all the bills get paid we are good.

My husband and I have separate bank accounts. It works for us. We each pay our certain bills and if one has a bill that they need help with, we pay it. We both pay at various meals out but don’t eat out a lot of buy coffee out. You’re so right, it’s so expensive. We live a simple life with very little debt. Mortgage, utilities, groceries, and medical bills are our only debts. It’s tough for young people. We’ve paid our vehicles off and he fixes our cars so we will never have another car payment.

Well in case you are interested, regarding the bank accounts, we both work (very similar salaries) and have separate accounts but also a joined one where we both put the same amount each month. With this account we pay most things: rent, bills, car, groceries, eating out, clean lady, home repairs & appliances... We use the personal one for gifts (to each other but also I pay for my family's gifts, he pays for his. This way I don't feel bad if I want to spend more on my niece than what he would like for his, for example). Also if i go on a girls trip, or want to buy something for myself (clothes, hairdresser, a new phone) I pay that from my account. This felt the good for both of us, so we don't feel bad for spending money on things that are not necessities.

P.p.s. We have separate accts. We were a little older when we coupled up and had separate accounts and houses already. It was easier to keep it separate. I wouldn’t care if it was joint at this point. But the nice part is we can surprise each other with a purchase and also not micro manage on little expenses that we might differ on. It works for us. I see both sides & it’s great if two ppl can agree on whichever way and finances aren’t a typical problem.

Tell Layla that my grandson asked God on his 3rd birthday for a baby sister on his number 4 birthday. His sister arrived 4 days after his 4th birthday. When he got to be 6 or 7 and she was beginning to get into his stuff, we reminded him that she was his birthday present, he said have you heard of regifting.

My son talked later than my daughter who I think came out talking. My son could talk but was more of an observer and talked when he "wanted to"

Especially when the older child is doing all the talking! It takes practice for the parents to not anticipate all the wants of the younger child and let him speak- whether asking for something or naming them, etc. everyone wants to be helpful to the “baby” and forget how much they demanded of the older one, like having them repeat everything back to the parents. Now the parents are engaging in conversation with the older child and not focusing as much on the language of the younger child. Even if they think they are doing it, it’s not the same. Bc usually the older child chimes in and the younger one is engaged in and entertained by what the older sibling is doing or saying.

My first was speaking absolutely phonetically correct sentences by her first birthday. My second talked what we called 'gibberish" until she was almost three (her big sister was always talking for her and telling us what she wanted lol). From that point on there was no stopping her. My husband always said "and we were worried she was never gonna talk 😳" She's now 26 and hasn't stopped! 😅
