Wow, I loved Josh Haven’s ‘The Siberia Job’. Oil, Russian mafia, and the wild expanses of Siberia. 'The Siberia Job' is an action-packed thrill ride. Haven has painted a vivid picture of post-Soviet Russia with excellent pacing and an intense plot.

You should also read The Outsider before you read Holly if you want all the backstory of the character. There’s also a Holly short story in the If It Bleeds collection.

Thanks for a great list! I’m not positive, but I think The Outsider comes after the Mr. Mercedes trilogy. What I’m not sure about is if it’s before Holly. I really want to read The Outsider cause I loved the show, and loved Holly in it although I hear she is different in the books, but I know I need to read the trilogy before The Outsider. Might be worth looking into. 😊

@@ReadingWryly lol. In the show she’s played by Cynthia Erivo. She’s incredible in the show, which made me bummed when I heard she’s different in the books! I bet if you watched a clip it would bring u back, cause she played a large role. Made the whole show for me, Jason Bateman is usually a given and is why I watched it in the first place, but she blew him out of the water. I wonder then if I could read Outsider without watching the trilogy? Curious what ur thoughts will be on the trilogy in ur wrap ups. Thanks! I saw Josh Winning on a Tales Point Horror Bookclub live after The Mirror Glass came out (which if you like movies like The Dark Crystal, you need to read) and LOVED it. I'm super excited for Burn the Negative. I added Cutting Teeth, A Twisted Love Story, Gone Tonight, What Never Happened (I adore Rachel Howzell Hall's books!), and Just Another Missing Person to my TBR, and I have an ARC of Black River Orchard. I loved Wayward/Wanderers, so I'm sure I'll love BRO, which is 300 pages shorter than either of those lol. I am also SO EXCITED for Rouge. I love all of Mona Awad's books. If you haven't read 13 Ways of Looking at a Fat Girl, it's not the uplifting novel you think it would be with that title. It's more like essays that are written in the same style of her other books and they're all just a little (or a lot) dark.

Wow. So much to unpack here. First, completely forgot the movie Dark Crystal existed. You just awakened a core memory of this movie. 😂 Omg an EXTRA 300 pages?! I dont have the time! I used to love a long book but now that I’m reviewing them for content, it hits different. And no, I haven’t read that Mona Awad yet, but I need to! Love her writing so much.
