Alhamdulillah, just discovered this channel and am ordering several books as I write. So refreshing to hear the professor eloquently express what I have always believed since I first read the Quran and knew I wanted to be a Muslim. Islam is the Path to a relationship with God, and harmony with the self and with society, a vision which immediately dawns on every new convert to Islam but is unfortunately burdened under layers of cultural traditions and protectionism. Your lectures are so moving and unburdened, your voice is much needed in the world today. May Allah bless you and reward you.

Also, to touch on what the man asked.. he also needs to consider the unpaid care work women do. E.g. cooking, cleaning, child care, and even elderly care. Also, if you want children, that's another thing your wife will go through, emotional and physical pains and changes. Some women do all this, as well as do an outside job.

Hello everyone, please also look up the other, alternative translations of the word used for "beat". How could God allow violence? Against your own family?

@9:15 Shaykh Khaled says if Muhammad Al Ghazali's books were translated into English... They are slowly being. A couple I saw by Dar Al Taqwa publishing. PS This is regarding Muhammad Al Ghazali who was Khaled Abou El Fadl's teacher in Al Azhar in the 20th century. Not the Ghazali who wrote , Ihya Ulum ad-Din hundreds of years ago...🙂

I guess that one of the works of Muhammad al-Ghazali, the *"Khulug al-Muslim"* was translated into German as _"Der Charakter des Muslims - Grundzüge der Morallehre des Propheten Muhammad ﷺ"_

I have a question. When Khomeini came after Post Revolutionary Iran, he implemented very similar rules to Saudi Arabia. Men became the guardians and protectors of women in Iran too. So is this only from Najdi Islam?
@MrYusha

No. If you read Shaykh Khaled Abou El Fadl's books, like the 'Great Theft' he calls them puritans which are in many sects and religions. Najdi Wahhabi is from Saudi and sees itself as a part of Sunni Islam. Khomeini was a Shia puritan...

@@MrYushaHi, just saw this reply after 2 years. Yes, Khomeini was definitely a puritan. He was basically trying to replicate Saudi Arabia in Iran. Except for allowing women to drive. But a great number of rules that he implemented in Iran were very identical to those in Saudia. Iranians aren’t socially conservative like the Gulf Arabs and they flaunt the strict rules in their homes.

There are many linguistic meanings for the word. He doesn't mean that specific meaning would be the one applied to Allah swt. The same word often has different meanings, even in the Qur'an. @Trezueguet
