I really like your Beaver trapping video. Please keep up the great work. I like you speak loud enough its easy to hear and understand. Please as a request do a video with the 330 and a Scent Mound set. I will add you to my follow list. Thanks so much!!! Larry Gene Pate

+imasurvivornthriver I hope it goes over well. I was undecided about it as I wasn't sure if people were going to want to see more "entertainment" type videos with music and editing or if they want more "plain but to the point" how to videos. I'll keep making them if people keep watching them.

Technical point: at 6:50 when your bright shirt gets in the frame, the iris of the camera closes down, darkening the rest of the scene.

Very informative and nicely done. Much respect for the 330. What brand of hip boots do you use?

Thanks sir. I've been doing this a long time and I have gone to using cheap Magellan brand boots and simply replace them every year.

What are you using on your dog wires? It looks like you have a wire crimped between them. Thank you

i thought you said it was illegal to set on dry land I'm in Connecticut with very similar laws and we can not set on a beaver slide all 330 traps must be fully underwater
@Meattrapper

We must set in a watercourse. It does not have to be underwater.

Thank you. I'm getting a lot of questions and will be doing more like this. No fancy editing or music just basic how to info. Will be interesting to see which type of video people prefer. I'm hoping people will tell me.

I have an area that I trap which is loaded with beaver, but I also have Otter in there. Here in Indiana this is the first Otter trapping season in about 70 years. I already harvested one otter by setting on a beaver dam crossover about a month ago. I am allowed two Otter per year but Im kinda trying to avoid catching anymore intentionally. I was wondering if you have any tips. I never realized that Beaver and Otter share crossovers but trust me they do. I have video of the crossover from the morning I got the Otter. I will try to get that video up today. Thanks for any advice you may have.

+MusicMan6512 Great job on the otter! They do indeed share runs and crossovers with beaver. One tip is that that otter will often use very faint crossovers at the far ends of the dam. Otter really like to swim down the banks of a creek hunting the nooks and crannies so when they encounter a beaver dam they will just cross right where the dam and the bank meet. Look closely at these areas and set a trap in any faint trails over the dam. I use 220's a lot in these areas and use 30's in the central crossing. Another tip is that otter rarely travel alone - they are usually in a group so when they come through - they come through all at once and it may be two weeks before they return so gang set! So in a crossover, set at least two traps in each crossover. I often have 6 traps on a single dam. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!

+The Meat Trapper Well I have decided to make a channel to put up some of my trapping videos. I asked you earlier in the week about the Otter using Beaver crossovers. I want to say thanks for the advice. I have posted two videos of the crossover on the beaver dam where the Otter are crossing. If you get a chance check them out and thanks again for getting back with me. My new channel is Tri County Trapper

I see you modified your trigger wire with what appeared to be a piece of snare cable and some crimp ferrels. Can you comment on your modification and why?

I make circle triggers from 11 gauge wire. I have noticed a dramatic decrease in trap refusals when using circle triggers. I believe animals are used to circular tunnels and den openings. They all seem to aim for the bullseye and there are no wires hitting them in the face and eyes. Nobody likes wire in the face.

The Meat Trapper thank you. That makes perfect sense as the same principle is integral to snaring.
