I haven't flown with any airline recently, but I've only ever had great experiences with Qantas and Virgin cabin crews. It's definitely a cultural sort of thing but I prefer casual to ultra robotic. Also if I ever fly business class, there is now way in hell I'm ordering a fruit platter

At 3:40 - whenever returning to Australia, they always do a secondary check - it's Australia's fault. It happens from Singapore, Bali, Phuket, just Australia being difficult lol Great vlog! I've been looking for a direct flight to Jakarta from Bris/GC so Melb seems like the next best thing. Cheers

Very nicely done mate Jakarta airport certainly looks like it has improved a bit since when i was there like 2013 that's when Garuda flew Perth to Jakarta direct which was a great service! I think you're channel will grow quite steadily if you keep putting out videos to this standard :)

I enjoyed this - had a few laughs too - quite funny in places! I'm in the UK and last flew Qantas on an internal flight from Exmouth to Perth - in a Fokker - with one class and meal service a hot pie in the same format as a McDonalds Apple Pie - in cardboard and gradually ends up messy. Gald to have stumbled on your channel and will be interested in future travels -

Most of people criticise Qantas flight attendant because they not young ,sexy etc ! But I must say the Qantas crew is very professional and doing excellent job ! If not them Qantas would be like Budget Arline ! It is the experience not age what matter 😊

Love the videos! I also gasped when I saw you had your clothes folded on top of the toilet seat. I wouldn't do that * grimaces * I like that you do a voiceover vs. talking in the cabin, it's clearer to hear and no doubt the pax around you would be happy not hearing a narration so it's a win win. Keep up the great work.

I'm so used to all the flight reviewers showing up super early to the airport, and to boarding. My own last-minute-ness is not necessarily something I'd recommend, but I felt seriously validated and understood by your taking a shower 10 mins before you needed to board. Of course I've done the same! lol

What a great review. Such a chilled funny commentary. Looking forward to more videos. Yes Qantas’ best aspect is the friendly chat from the crew. Pity management doesn’t treat the crew with more respect. Aus Gov adds that extra layer of security in many airports.

My parents work in the airlines (they work onboard the plane) and it’s so funny to see rich people enjoying their meals like it’s a gourmet 5 star meal but the truth is those meals are just pre cooked meals chucked in a steamer oven and cooked with steam their not even that well cooked so next time enjoy it but just remember your not in a restaurant. 👍

Hey Simon, great trip report, the QF business class has improved since my husband and I flew QF to Manila and return last October, to which I can see an improvement in their catering etc. Indonesia does have some differing rules regarding what you take leaving the country, last time in Bali I had a twin pack of gin, opened one whilst we were there, obviously packed the remainder in our check in luggage, bag went through security/x ray before checking in, the removed the opened bottle of gin saying it wasn't allowed, only the unopened bottle? Now being an Aussie, I have to say I prefer Air New Zealand over QF, I find their crews much more friendly and relaxed! Anyway, keep up the great work!

Every international flight (besides New Zealand) into australia will have a secondary security check - it's for biosecurity. Hope this helps :)

Not my flight from Tokyo in October. It might have something to do with the capabilities of the xray machines. We didn't have to take electronics out of the cabin luggage either. Nothing to do with biosecurity, bottled water is not a biosecurity risk.

Interesting review, however it would have been nice to know if you had landed on time or late, given your passive aggressive “ typical Qantas late departure again” comment earlier. Plane departures are often delayed due to fast flight times or bad weather etc etc, especially when landing at airports with curfews.

We have an upcoming trip to Europe from Perth, and we decided to fly direct with Qantas instead of Singapore Airline or any of the Middle Eastern Airlines, mainly because of the service! I love how the crew is always down to earth, funny, sometimes sarcastic, whereas other airline service can be in my opinion way too in your face, almost too polite and helpful, I don't need them to hold the toilet door for me everytime I use the lavatory.

The lounges in CGK are just sad. Their only redeeming quality is the showers are actually available, unlike most places where there's a huge line to use them.

Australian regulations require all items that are considered "LAGS" (liquids aerosols and gels) over 100ml are prohibited in hand carry. anything over this must be placed into your checked baggage. This is due to safety and security regulations. I'll let you answer that one.

Yeah, I understand that but I'd already lost all my water at the first security line after customs and you can generally take liquids purchased in the terminal.
