Ok, I say this as 69 year old Australian (with Convict heritage)…Listen to this good man presenting this further update on the business culture of Qantas. It’s not just Qantas going to the all mighty dollar way of business, it’s also iconic Australian companies that have become unacceptable in their service offers. Who, reading this hasn’t been to hell and back with overseas call centres just as we’ve seen on this vlog? Well done “Ryan So Fly”, you’re honest, to the point and a breath of fresh air in giving a damn about these unacceptable short falls. Kudos to the Qantas flight attendant who holds the integrity of Qantas on her shoulders. Isn’t this what it once was to be an Aussie? As for Neil Perry…

Your rant is bang on the money!! There has been little to no investment or improvement to their product offering despite billion dollar profits. All they do is hype up future plans of new lounges, newer aircraft and better food whilst delivering average. Catering always reads well in the menu but when plated and presented its anything but. Cabin crew like you experienced are the saving grace for the airline. Genuine hospitality. Heres hoping the new ceo turns things around. Happy travels!

I cringe whenever I hear spin doctor scripted words of how great QF is. The spirit of Australia, whatever the hell that is.... It surely isn't churning out satisfied customers. I've been very excited for this video to watch and am finally able to watch it. I've got a bowl of popcorn and enjoying this video and reading all the comments below. As you well know, I am actually a QF advocate so will be listening to your rant with an open mind. I love the red roo so much I'm flying them to Edinburgh for my wedding next year. I love the Little Mermaid too so will watch that after this video. LOL Thai curries should never be altered or played with. It should remain authentic and as close to the OG as possible. Fusion/Pan is NOT always a good thing and based on what I see in your video, it's terrible. I'm going to be honest, whenever I see an asian offering in a QF lounge, I avoid like the plague. You make a good point in that many, if not most, airlines around the world have tightened their purse strings as a means to reduce the gap between overheads and revenue. However, having traveled in premium classes in the United States, Canada and intra-Europe, the business class service and offering in Australia (QF and VA) is exponentially superior. When European airlines business class seats are simply economy seating with the middle seat blocked out and catering meal equivalent to reconstituted paper mache, I'd happily take QF's meals any day. With one proviso, as long as the meal isn't asian. LOL Redemption of international premium flights is nigh impossible with QF which is why I've moved away from accruing points with them. If they can improve redemption inventory then I might consider coming back. That's king pao chicken? Strewth! Mate. I'm fully with Rainbow Li on this. Stop butchering classics! I make this at home and is a family favourite. If I had what you had, I would be bitterly disappointed. OMG I made it onto you video! HAHAHA Is that what I look like on a screen? EKKK! HAHA Thanks a million for the call out. The funny thing is, that video you watched, I actually was watching YOUR video! LOL Your honesty and candor is very much appreciated. Having heard your gripes and experiences In Real Time, I fully appreciate your frustrations. Another brilliant video! Can't wait for the next.

I think the issue for me is that Qantas are not the only airline in the world that has turned to crap, but we WANT to have pride in Qantas and so as a nation of flyers, we are embarrassed and feel so let down. 7 months to get refunds, points, cash it doesn't matter it's not good enough. And if they actually paid for people to be trained properly and know what they were doing on the other end of the line, maybe issues would be fixed first time. And if that happened they wouldn't need to field so many phone calls. and therefore they could employ less people. And we can't forget that since Covid profits are through the roof for Qantas. I can't speak for the quality of the Asian food. a little chilli and i require 20 lassis. But I was happy to hear that the cabin staff were so good you felt the need to write a letter. Earlier this year I was pretty unimpressed with Qantas cabin crew but it was economy. thanks for another comprehensive and honest view Ryan, keep doing what you do!

Long story short unless you take Qantas to your state tribunal they don't care. I loved how you say it as it is. It made your video more entertaining. When I flew Qantas business class from Hobart to Brisbane with a stopover in Sydney, I was given the Neil Perry style Pad Thai on both flights as I pre ordered the vegetarian meal online it was nothing like a Pad Thai, kinda like some different spicy noodle dish, but to be fair I didn’t mind it. It should be called Neil Perry’s Aussie noodle special. I loved the business class lounge at Brisbane domestic terminal as its modern, but the Sydney business class domestic terminal felt a little bit dated. The Qantas call centre pissed me off. Compared to some other airlines in the Oneworld network I’d place QF in the middle with Qatar at the top - however I find the best redemptions (as a current silver QF member) are on AA and Finnair. Luckily being a resident of the US and citizen of Finland I’m in a position to capitalise on this. I completely empathise on the lack of international reward seats from Aus. In oz I favour VA over QF 9 times out of 10, only flying QF when I need a quick economy reward…

so funny, yes Im Australian born and I avoid Qantas like the plaque. I only fly Qantas or Jetstar if all other options have been exhausted. Virgin is the best domestically and basically anyone else internationally. I feel real pain giving even 1 dollar to Qantas. They are full of it, their service is woeful in every way, and the only reason they survive is because they have conned so many Aussies into flying with them because its some sort of patriotic duty or whatever, plus we are too small a market domestically to have more airlines, they could literally serve real sh*t and urine to people on flights and Aussies would still fly with them, fact. Ive flown in Russia a few years ago and even Russia has more airline competition than we do in Australia. My mum had to cancel an overseas trip 3 years ago because of covid and every other airline quickly refunded her, except for you guessed it Qantas. It took months of pain trying to contact Qantas and get a response, eventually they refunded her when covid ended and they were worried people wouldnt fly with them again. They are truly disgraceful pieces of sh*t, must be one of the worst airlines in our part of the world, but Aussies will still defend them no matter what.

I share your pain with Qantas frequent flier points. I had 500,000. I wanted to fly to Europe. I could not book a seat. My son who has tier status did the bookings for me. I transferred the point to him. He got me a mix of first and business class seats on emirates and cathay pathetic. They were so much better than Qantas. Imagine fresh caviar on emirates. Yummy. But years ago, before retirement, I flew BC on Thai from Bangkok to Sydney. I had Thai fish for the meal. It was quite bland so I asked for some chilli sauce. The trolley dolly was very embarrassed to give me four sachets of Maggi Chilli Sauce.
@ryansofly Жыл бұрын
Good thing your son has status. Otherwise your 500K points wouldn't have got you very far in Australia. You'd fly Brisbane to Sydney back and forth in business class a few times and still have leftover points! Hahahaha... Pity about the catering on TG. The Bangkok flight kitchen is actually one of my fave because they churn out these extremely tasty dishes not just for TG, but for a while host of other airlines as well. So if the flight is catered from BKK, you can almost be assured of a tasty meal. So I'd venture your experience was a one off.... Hopefully!

For now, it seems like one reason to patronise Qantas is its frequent flyer programme and links to one world and Emirates. I laughed out loud at the suburban Lululemon-wearing food court Asian stall reference. It's true; Asian food in many places in Oz has been dulled/dumbed down for the Aussie palate. My neighbourhood Thai place has curry sooooo sweet and thick you'd think they just watered down a jar of peanut butter and stirred curry powder through it. I agree. What you had looked like chicken with a bottle of sweet chilli sauce poured over it, instead of the spicy, vinegary, fragrant punch-in-face kong pow chicken we get in Asia. You don't get to do that and call it by its genuine name; calling it chicken in a mild, sweet chilli sauce would've been better and much truer to form. Unfortunately, the state of generic Asian dishes here don't give a real introduction into what they are really like in the places these dishes come from. Aussies grow up with this suburban food court standard Asian food, they finally start travelling out of country and then get to try the real thing. But the real thing doesn't taste right for them because of what they get back home, which wasn't true to taste in the first place. If this was their first introduction into Asian cooking, yeah... I dunno what to say. 🙄 Also, you come to Brissy, you bo jio! J/k... 😄

There is only one thing that is going to improve Qantas, and that is effective competition, and regulatory changes deriving from government and the ACCC to take away the unfair advantage of the major airline duopoly ie. Qantas/Jetstar and Virgin. Smaller players like Rex and Bonza need encouragement to invest further, and such abuses as 'slot hoarding' etc should cease. Moreover, consumer protection must become more of an issue than it is at the moment. Fines or penalties for unjustfied time changes and cancellations should be rigorously enforced. Qantas and Virgin have been milking customers for years, and that needs to change and fast!

The powers that run QF are unfortunately very "traditionally white", so their inflight cuisine is represented as such. Its just such a sorry affair. Did they ever reply to your survey? Or was it the usual computer generated dribble?

You and me both! I flew them a lot prior to their death. And they died on my birthday! 😐

Did you get the invite into the Kitchen?

Haha... What do you think? I'm not big enough of a KZbinr for QF to pay me any attention.

Lesson here: @ryansofly knows what Asian dishes look like so don’t pass on as Asian dishes what clearly isn’t.

Yeah, till this day I struggle to understand how Neil Perry is the expert in Asian cooking. Hehe...

@@ryansoflybetter for Neil Perry to have you than Gordon Ramsay I guess for Asian food.

Neil Perry is not an Asian cook he just dresses up like an Asian

Ha Ha Well done Ryan finally someone with balls Niel Perry should have been sacked years ago The business class menu choices are discusting paticually the salads and so called asian dishes... To the untrained palet it is exceptable food but for those of us in the know they food is a cultral insult I avoid Qantas at all cost because of the poor food and crew whom sometimes have an attitude that just makes you want to stow yourself into the foot well Trans tasman is the worst for small food portions,bad catering with limited available food options and ice cream for a dessert. Airlines like China Air from Brisbane to Auckland wipe the floor with Qantas Air New Zealand do as well except they serve lamb...YUK Qantas are the laughing stock of disgruntiled passengers and complaints fall on deaf ears. Solution FIRE PERRY Employ a team of chefs that explore the world different cusines but don't destroy them and bring back the old days of a meal tray with a a bread selection,starter,main and a real dessert even on the trans tasman flights Thank you so much for speaking out You've definately got my support A great truthfull vlog Loved it Ryan Thank you P.S.The South African call centre in Durbin is shocking with rude staff that did not GAF about your call Fiji's call centre is a laugh argumentive and totally dont care about your call. I have yet to encounter the Phillipines Why have a stroke compliments of Qantas when there are so many other far better carriers

Aww you don't like lamb? Man lamb is my life! I have it every other week. You know, I make my own pasta and sauces. But I would not ever dare to serve it to an Italian because I can imagine a Nonna clobbering me with a wooden spatula. And it really REALLY irks me Neil Perry describes himself as an expert in Asian cooking. Asia covers far east (Japan Korean China) to SE asia (Indochina, Thailand, Malaysia) to West Asia (India, Pakistan) to Central Asia (Afghanistan, Turkmenistan) and finally middle East... So what the hell is he an expert in? Over the last decade of cost cutting had finally caught up with QANTAS and today's explosion of dissatisfaction is just the climax of that. Just when you think QANTAS has done fucking me up, they've just cancelled my MEL SIN flight on Xmas Eve, and put me on Jetstar. 🤦

How can this be a business class ??? Are you serious ??
@ryansofly5 ай бұрын
It's a narrow body 737, and they mainly fly domestic so the Business Class is such. They sadly fly these domestic configured birds in some international flights to Bali, Nouméa, Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and *gulp* at one time even Singapore.

@@ryansofly I’d not spend my money on business seats like this lol it’s a rip off.
@ryansofly5 ай бұрын
@@jasonbig1353 yep 💯... QF is a rip off and I'd never pay money to fly them. The bulk of this trip was actually with LATAM so this QF sector was a short connecting flight back home. Otherwise I fly QF purely using points.
