I just got my notice about my flight in 5 days and the exact same thing happened to us. We went from having the quad in the QSuites to this lousy layout for our Chicago to Doha flight, which is 13+ hours.

We just checked in from Chicago to Maldives…. I’m furious…. We were supposed to be in the q suites and they just changed the plane. The whole reason I picked Qatar and not Emirates was because of the q suite! It feels like I’m on a US carrier!

Just got the same disappointing notification, 24 hrs pre flying from Doh - Mel. First (and prob last) business class experience, due to having a medical procedure. Booked the Qsuites for the privacy pod and then it got changed to the old skool boring business style. I was offered a free flight change which I took - but now I have an extra 5 hrs wait in the airport. Not paying all that money for an extra large seat! Very disappointing.

UPDATE: At check-in I found out that Qatar had changed the aircraft back to Qsuite on my original flight. I managed to get back into my original flight at no extra cost. It was a lot of messing around and stress. I was advised within a 24 hours span that the aircraft was no longer qsuite, so I changed flight. And then it had changed back again so I changed flight again. Ridiculous. That being said though, Qsuite was well worth the wait and was very impressive.

I have my flights book and schedule in the next two months. It fleet keep changing and this one the the worst one out of the four layouts. If I could not seat on one of Q-suite, I would rather seat on the A380 that has a bar on board. This seat configs is outdate and Qatar should not held high regard as the best airline, because it is not.

In my opinion 5K has a perfect engine view. The lavatories weren‘t a problem in my case. But if you choose row 6 or 7 it should be far enough from the lavatory.

The seat is seriously outdated. privacy non existent and definitely not what one would expect from a 5* airlines. I know this problem has arisen because QR had to revive their old 777 when they took their A350's out of service due to the paint issue, so QR was kinda caught with their pants down. So much previous bragging by QR - things seem to have gone South

I do sympathize with you, it's always bad to get a last minute change like this. But just to put a positive twist, these seats have some merits of their own. While qSuite is private this provides a very open and airy(grand) feel. These also have a better layout. They provide 3 full windows and are very comfortable to sleep in. Come to think of it if the neighboring seat is not occupied, I would rather prefer these to qsuites.

The Qatar 777 300ER Business Class looks like a total rip off. Old, horrible, dated interior not even comparable to the Emirates and dare I say Turkish in Business Class. Hardly what I’d expect from a Skytrax 5* top of the list offering.Old heap of an aircraft that’s been around for years and in your case bait and switch with the service offering. How delightful. Qatar don’t come over as very appealing especially as the cost in Business for a 10,000km each way return flight with 1 connection comes in at 4,200€. Done this and had this also with Singapore Airlines. Should have been an A350, in reality it was a 777 300ER FRA-SIN-MNL return (the SIN-MNL return was in an A350, better than the awful aircraft that was provided for FRA-SIN) Old, dated, pile of junk, over 4k€ as with Qatar, and you just feel totally cheated, swindled, and that you‘ve been well and truly had. And this feedback from a current SIA Star Alliance Gold card holder….

I came to watch expecting a top tier business class hard product, the Q Suites. When it came to the part where Qatar slipped you and equipment change, sorry, I lost interest and stopped wasting my valuable time. Hope they refunded you your airfare. (Of course I know they did not, but you get my point)
