Allah, The Beneficent The Merciful, mentions: 9-Say, "Do you really disbelieve in the One Who created the earth in two days? Do you consider things equal to Him? He is the Lord of the Universe. 10-And He placed on the earth firmly set mountains over its surface, and He blessed it and determined therein its [creatures'] sustenance in four days without distinction - for [the information] of those who ask. 11-Then He directed Himself to the heaven while it was smoke and said to it and to the earth, "Come [into being], willingly or by compulsion." They said, "We have come willingly”. (Chapter No. 41, Fussilat) What makes these verses extraordinary? Discovery of the cosmic dust. In 41.11, The Quran orders the skies and earth to come into being from smoke like in fairy tales. “The Universe is a very dusty place. Cosmic dust consists of tiny particles of solid material floating around in the space between the stars. It is not the same as the dust you find in your house but more like **smoke** with small particles varying from collections of just a few molecules to grains of 0.1 mm in size. Dust is important because we find lots of it around young stars. In fact it helps them to form, and it is also the raw material from which planets like the Earth are formed.” (Source: Herschel Space Observatory online)

Although I was a born Muslim, I didn’t always cover up. It was something I had found hard to do before that day. During your speech I asked Allah SWT to make it easy for me to don on the scarf. I thought to myself this is a woman, who is a revert to this beautiful religion and she knows it’s her duty to do so. Furthermore, you looked beautiful wearing the Hijba. I said to myself again what was my excuse when I’ve read clearly in the Quran that a woman must dress modestly? Wallahi, the next day , I wore it the whole day and day after that, and I have been wearing it since the summer of 2012. Absolutely amazing talk. The lady is highlighting the contribution of Islam for the kind impactful experience that foreigners are finding in Qatar. Quoting an expatriate from UK, she informs that many of them are finding the peaceful and protective Qatari environment so much alluring that they don't want to go back to their country of birth even the expiry of their service contract. No doubt, by hosting the FIFA world cup the rulers of Qatar have stunned the world by their soft power.

It made my heart very heavy that Qatar hosted the World Cup. To actually have such deep discrimination against the LGBTQ+ community, to openly say that being gay is ‘haram’ and to criminalise, torture and imprison gay people is deeply cruel. The closest I've come across the Qatari culture was when I took a connecting flight to Dubai with Qatar airlines. The Qatari flight attendants customer service was outstanding, and this was on an economy flight which felt like first class standard. Such nice, humble people.

I am happy to know that there exists such a place as the one you describe in Qatar. SubhanAllah! I am a native, African American Muslim woman of senior age and i would love to live somewhere other than the USA. The rank immorality here has gotten to the point where i feel as if i'm living in a foreign land-- one that is totally unrecognizable from the one of my youth (circa 60 years ago). As a grandmother of 3 young grandchildren, i am especially concerned about the lack of push back in the parents here who see their children being oriented to accept a filthy lifestyle that is clearly against the will of the Creator and yet they are largely silent. My heart is breaking for witnessing this evil corruption and i want to escape from it. Ironically, i have reason to believe that there are more good, clean upstanding Americans than otherwise. Yet, they are complicit with this evil through their silence. May Allah (swt) help the people of moral conscience (the world over) to find their backbones & voices.

Salaam Alaikum Sister Lauren, thanks for sharing your experience. Masha Allah we are all dreaming of the Life which you spoke about in Qatar. But it’s so sad that this simplicity escapes us all in this World especially in majority Muslims countries. That which you spoke about is living the Quran 24 hours a day, remembering Allah SWT, our Creator, the Almighty, the Wise. Truthfully if we all live by the Guidance of Al Quran no one will have place in their Hearts to hurt anyone. It just couldn’t happen. I lived in Kuwait, Qatar, UAE and Saudi Arabia for many years working in the Oil & Gas Construction. My wife says she can walk at mid night any where and feel safe, unlike Manchester or London where I am scared to go out alone after sun set.
