Is there a way to batch enter a series of charges (i.e., copy and paste from Excel into Quickbooks) to populate a split transaction? When I enter a transaction that needs to be split, I am unable to locate a method of batch entering the split charges. Thank you

How do i apply this to a CD? for example i transferred $5,000 to a CD and receive back $5030.12.... it transfer directly into my checking. but $5000 is just like a transfer, and $30.12 is Interest Income

The CD should be on your balance sheet so you transfer the $5000 to checking then record a deposit for the interest income

When you enter a receipt with multiple items, what about sales tax? Do you split that equally among the accounts or do you post it to its own expense account? If I go to Office Depot, for example, I might buy stamps and some office supplies, but then I’ll pay state sales tax on some of it. I’m confused on how to account for that.

Technically it’s added to the cost of all items pro rated BUT most people just add it to the cost of one of the categories since it’s usually small

I am entering the credit card expenses in the register under the splits. But we are not paying the full balance that is on the statement. The statement says the balance is $847.95 but we only paid $500.00. There is a negative balance on the split so what do I do with the remaining amount?

You have to enter all the credit card charges, then reconcile the credit card, then it will prompt you to enter a bill for the credit card. Enter the bill, and change the amount that you are paying.

When reviewing transactions, it says that the split amounts don’t add up. How can I fix that?

You’ll have to go into those transactions and make sure the splits add up

There aren’t any splits and they shouldn’t have splits. Most of the transactions are purchases of materials.

Yes, they are the transactions that need to be reviewed and added to an account. It’s also not allowing me to add it to an account, only to categorize the transactions.

when doing account reconilliation, would it automatically reconcile by itsellf if the payment is showing a split on the bank statement.

It should. If you are using bank feeds it should match the totals but you always have to double check and make sure
