Thanks, your assessment after some use and comparing the Dell to the best competition assisted me to make up my mind. Now for the long wait 😞! I was scared the text thing will bother me and only a 4K monitor will offer me the needed sharpness. There is just no 4K OLED 32" screens at this time. Having used a 34" Samsung for work, going for the Alienware AW3423DW should be an easy transition as my personal gaming and entertainment monitor. The glossy screen and PPI jump from 96 to 110 should give me the sharpness increase I desire, though not 4K 32" would still be incredible with the perfect HDR, local diming and color accuracy compared to what I am use to. Much appreciate this follow up Bijan. All the best!

Finally getting to see more reviewers get hands on with OLED and figure out good ways to convey the stark difference of immediate pixel response times where the only difference is "faster refresh-rate literally equal more better". It's nuts to see the consistency charted out. Hoping there will be some improvements to the LG C series as they're imo the most affordable and overall best displays for PC use in the OLED category. Glossy panels for one but just the features combined with panel improvements. Perhaps we'll see a review from you on it? I'd say it's -well worth it- considering you've covered the QD-OLED now. The only thing the LG's are missing is faster refresh rates after all. Overall, glad to see this from you- OLED is such a game changer and it's really the display tech everyone deserves to play and experience content on for their large-screen experiences. I've got the ASUS M16 RTX 4090 laptop with the 240hz 1,024 zone Mini-LED display with peak 1,100 nit brightness. I absolutely love that display. That being said, the bloom around light/white objects on darker backgrounds is definitely noticeable. In Hunt Showdown the white reticule has a slight glow to it which is not noticeable against light materials like grass, but looks a bit like a dim flashlight when against dark scenes like inside buildings without light on the night maps. You can also easily see it like in the video here in browsers with dark mode. Now, it can be reduced mostly entirely if switching to SDR,but the point of having these super bright HDR displays is that eye-searing max brightness, so that is really only an option in work mode while on the desktop.

I have the AW3423DW, and totally agree with this review. I really feel that the QD-OLED is the best technology out there, and the AW3423DW is a truly fantastic gaming monitor that also fares very well as an all-around display, which was important for me working from home (I haven't found color fringing to be an issue, btw). I run the AW3423DW in sRGB, 2.4 gamma, 400 True Black for all around use and love it. Resizing windows never dim, unlike my LG C1. The panel is also noticeably brighter than C1 for all around use- I'm on at 55% brightness on the AW3423DW, and I have to go 80% on the C1 to make it even halfway usable for general desktop use. The C1 is very nice in HDR gaming, but the Alienware is simply a step above. Colors have just a bit more pop, the screen gets brighter, the contrast between dark and bright in scenes is incredible. In comparison to LCD- I was a fairly late adopter to LCD (I finally switched in 2008) for very specific reasons that I've never loved about LCD panels. First is response time and motion clarity, which for an OG quake player, was very noticeable at first. Another thing I never liked about most LCD panels is that they tend to achieve such high contrast largely by turning up the nits. To varying degrees, they always look at least a little blown out to my eyes, just not natural somehow. Also backlight bleed, while just part of the game, is annoying. The first time I gamed on my C1, I immediately recognized the difference. Great contrast is achieved not just by nits, but because blacks are black and subtlities in shades of dark colors are better reproduced. However, the C1 is no daily driver, ABL makes it totally unsuitable for desktop use, and a 48" size aggravates this because you have to set the monitor back further, making the brightness issue worse. 48" is immersive for gaming. However, with the AW3423DW and an Ergotron dual monitor, I have discovered that I can put the monitor pretty close and it nicely fills my field of view. The Alienware 34" QD-OLED is quality versus quantity versus my C1. In terms of comparing QD-OLED to any VA or IPS panel, even FALD, the eyeball test is no comparison. To my eye, QD-OLED looks much better, and the motion clarity reminds me what CRT was like- very crisp with no trails or artifacts. Finally, I would conclude by stating that more monitors need to have glossy options. It's a massive difference in IQ, colors pop and blacks, and many people have light controlled environments to optimally leverage glossy panels.

@@peergynt6515 I purchased the neo g8 shortly before I commented and as a competitive monitor it definitely has the advantage. You need to really run it in barebones mode (no vrr, local dimming or hdr) for it to be at it's best performance wise where it competes with all the other top esports monitors in terms of response time and input lag and is slightly faster than the alienware, although the alienware does edge it out in terms of response time and motion clarity.

Great video. I had narrowed my next display purchase down to a handful of options, and this pretty much seals the deal. I'm kinda surprised that nobody has dropped a true 4k ultrawide on us with at least 120 refresh for gaming. I know it would be expensive, but I hate having to choose between 4k and ultrawide just because I also game. I use a Dell 4k ultrawide at work and it is a total joy to edit in After Effects and Premiere on (or anything with a timeline), but there's no way that's going to work at home when gaming while stuck at 60hz. I'd gladly cough up an extra $500 on a monitor price for those extra pixels.

Mmm not so sure, for only gaming yes but if you do some productivity then no. The Alienware is more expensive, has lower resolution, lower refresh rate, is still susceptible to burn-in (oled) and text is not that sharp (text fringing). It has lower brightness vs G8 but the black is better being oled (the G8 has still 1196 local dimming zones). In fact, I even prefer the Neo G7 to the G8 which is cheaper and has 165mhz refresh rate instead of 240hz , plenty enough for 4k gaming.

November 21, 2022 - I just bought my AW3423DW from Dell in the past week. I got if for $1100.00 in a 24 hour promotion from Dell by accident. Right time and right place😁 Even though I don't understand, (and therefore probably should not worry about), much of the technical specs discussed here. I just know that I am happy with the monitor overall. Watching videos like this for me now, is basically crossing my fingers and having someone tell me that I was correct in buying my Alienware monitor. I've never been overly impressed by curved monitors and TVs, but what I read about QD OLED before buying my monitor is what basically helped me make my purchase. One thing I take away from this and other videos about this monitor. Is that since I have a high end Dell 3800xblah blah. Which I have relegated to mainly doing online reading and browsing. Turns out to be definitely the right thing to do, and basically use the Alienware for the main purpose of gaming. Regarding Mr. Jamshidi. He seems like someone I would like to sit and talk about anything with. He seems like a really nice guy. Obviously, I enjoyed both his presentation and the video overall.

I did several years with an ultrawide and while they're nice there were enough small annoyances with them (some games not supporting 21:9, some content being letterboxed to 21:9 assuming a 16:9 display giving black bars on all sides (RDR2, looking at you) and a few other minor things) that I decided to go back to a traditional aspect ratio this time. Found a 42" C2 OLED on sale and I don't know how I'd ever go back to LCD for my primary display and the OLED/TV "annoyances" haven't really bothered me at all. I can't wait to see more OLED form factors hitting the market. This is a great look at these monitors, I'd have loved to see an LG OLED thrown in there too, especially now that the 42" size makes them more manageable than ever (though still large).

We really need a 1440p 240hz 27 inch flat QD-Oled with a glossy finish AND good BFI feature. I would literally spend 1500$ to buy that right now. The dream monitor not only for single player games with beautiful graphics, but also for competitive games. Apparently with a good BFI feature set properly, you could achieve about 1.5ms persistence on the OLED 240hz which is basically close to a perfect motion clarity. 1ms is considered to be " perfect " and no monitor comes close to that and most likely won't get nowhere near that unless we are talking about high hz OLEDs with the black frame insertion feature. We might even see one later this year, if not then def next year.

I picked the Samsung purely because I want to be able to use the monitor for a couple of years at least. And OLED just isn't there yet with burnin issues. I'm someone that has my monitor on at all times, and if you have mulitple windows on the white line burns into the screen real fast apparently. Not to mention all the static elements in games etc. The samsung doens't have this issue, near oled black levels, incredible brightness. and the 240 hz is great for if you want to play a game at like 1080p with super high refresh rates/fps also I really do not want a ultra wide. It's a nice for the stuff it works with, but largely its unnecessary and most games don't support it. You're better off just getting a second monitor if you want the space.

It seems that this opinion may be biased since the Samsung Odyssey Neo G8 wasn't compared side by side with the Alienware AW3423 (if I understand well this review). However, when compared directly, (as Viktor does with monitors, not TVs), it has been noted that the G8 Neo looks more pleasing in most cases due to its significantly brighter display (excluding small details like stars). On the other hand, the AW3423 may perform better in competitive or dark games (but generally, VA 240 Hz displays have less motion blur than 175 Hz displays, even when compared to QD-OLED screens. However, black smearing may be apparent in VA panels), while the G8 Neo or the G9 Neo (to match or excede the aspect ratio 21:9 and even be brighter than G8 Neo) may be better suited for single player games or those who prefer impactful HDR scenes. Ultimately, the better monitor depends on individual consumer preferences. There is no single best solution for everybody.

The g8 has horrendously bad scan line problems and should not even be considered I returned mine. It also doesn’t track the Eotf well and looks very saturated to the point of comedic levels
@socialreport2836
@socialreport2836 Жыл бұрын
@@rahb2096 A lot of people have not experienced any apparent scanline issues when running it at 240hz. While some people do complain about their defective panels or are lying about their purchase, it doesn't mean that all the panels are bad. In reality the majority of panels are very good without apparent scanlines. If someone is concerned about scanline issues with the G8 Neo, they could consider buying the G7 Neo as an alternative. Although even OLED displays also require calibration to achieve accurate colors, it is not accurate to say that Neo monitors are bad after post-calibration. The both of these technologies become quite good. Watch the comparison OLED vs FALD 1196 and you will see and hear that Neo looks very similar to OLED in many cases. In some cases Neo looks better and brighter (in bright or relatively bright scenes) and in some cases OLED looks better (dark scenes).

Burn-in with OLEDs is a deal breaker for me. I own an LG tv and it showed burin-in after only 2 years. I was careful with my content, and it still showed burn-in. Having high brightness is a con with OLEDs. I watch a lot of KZbin and work with many programs that have static elements. This means burn-in is just inevitable.

and I wouldn't compare 240 to 1200 zones (roughly) and 75" vs 32" (zones per inch is very incomparable) because it is tremendously different (HardwareU/MonitorsU did the comparison between number of zones). In most 'day' scenes G8 Neo (Neo monitor series) looks better than AW3423. 'Evenening' scenes are relatively comparable and only 'night' scenes look better in case of AW3423. Then we see win-win situation, not that AW3423 looks better in every case and in every scene. It's not true. Response times, blurry images etc are in my previous commentary. @@sleepssL this is the only problem i have with the monitor. Other than this it’s perfect. There’s a setting to switch it the local dimming from auto to high or off. I think people buy the G8 over the AW simply bc it is in a different category. The AW is an Ultrawide vs G8 standard 16x9 aspect. People prefer (myself include) that over ultrawide bc for me personally, I can't stand ultrawide screens. Also, it's in 4k. you may argue it is not much different between AW resolution but it is absolutely most noticeable

GOT A Great dea on itl, used with Ergotron arm for $1000 It had a great pixel density. Same exact sharpness as 34" or 27" 1440p. I just got a 32" Samsung G7 1440p 240hz. To replace broken X38. The height of this monitor was about the same as my 38. Best HDR I've ever seen on a screen NOT mini LED or OLED, period. I have a PS5 on my 77' C1 and I trust my eyes. The PS5 recently got an update to support 1440p monitors, but not VRR, making me consider returning G7 to get the newer NEO G7. Even though the G7 is snappy, fast, the ppi of 1440p at 32 is killing me. TLDR; 34" Alienware OLED is a downgrade for me from 38" Bad PS5 support makes me choose Samsung Neo G7 over G7, NEO G8, and Alienware aw3423.
