+kisbie As far as I know, they're friends as well as collegues - besides having worked together several times when Sandi was hosting The News Quiz, she attended Susan's wedding, and possibly the other way round, not sure exactly how long they've known each other - so it's more good-natured ribbing amongst friends than just a random jab. :) And yeah, her singing can sometimes go a bit off the rails, but I've also heard her belt one out beautifully on an episode of I'm Sorry, I Haven't A Clue, so I guess it just depends. :)

I work on sets. One day Julie Andrews strode up to me on her first visit to set before she started working officially. I happened to be standing beside the director. In my career I have been around countless celebrities and never once really cared. It's just a job. As Julie Andrews stood there gushing about how happy she was to join the cast and crew, sometimes directly at me, I felt like a 7 year old. My entire childhood flooded back and if she had asked me a direct question I wouldn't have been able to speak a word. True story.

@@michaellejeune7715 It does sound like "I'm Maria" but Alan was pretending to be someone interviewing Julie Andrews (and calling her Maria). He says "I'm on with Maria" and gestures as though there's someone there, then turns to the audience and says "I'll be back with ya" and then turns back to the imaginary Julie and says "on Maria" meaning he's continuing the interview.

Everybody in the world loves that movie - practically NOBODY in Austria has ever seen it. 🙂 I saw it on a flight from Tokyo to Singapore, at the age of 43...

That's interesting, they're all so different, except "The Melody of Happiness" is very similar to the original title. Somehow "The Sound of Music" also became All Together Passionately, Smiles and Tears, and The Bastards Got Away.

In Portuguese it was translated as "Música no Coração" meaning Music at Heart roughly

Austrian speaking. Near to none Austrians actually know this film or the musical, and yet it still is the first thing English speaking people ask you about when mentioning your home country. It's actually really funny to have someone foreign teach you something seemingly useless about your own country while getting all excited or offended (much like Sandi at 1:47 ).

Mostly the same with Braveheart which is one of those films a lot of people in Scotland saw 23 years ago when it came out but few since. But elsewhere I think they must show it regularly, I wouldn't mind if it was at least vaguely historically accurate.

So many people rushing to tell the world they haven't seen The Sound of Music. You should create an award for yourselves, something to stand on your trophy shelf next to the framed certificate for Not Owning A Television.

Oh, I am getting a certificate for that, eh, after all these TV-less years...

I love the part of the film when Maria confides to the Reverend Mother about seeing the Captain again “...she couldn’t face it...” and the Reverend Mother replied “Maria, what is it you c*nt face?” Best. Line. EVAR.
