You ought to check out Kenneth Williams , a unique performer and a regular in all the "Carry on " films . I'm not surprised by Clint Eastwood , it's probably one of the things the spaghetti directors would pick up with all those staring close ups .

The British army, of the Napoleonic wars, were trained, using muzzle loaders, to fire three rounds a minute. An achievement they were very proud of. The aim being not marksmanship (see what I did there) but volley fire.

I knew it was 5, and it was for safety. Blinking, it's a natural reaction to protect your eyes, any sudden loud sound or gust of air etc, your body makes the eyes close, just for a fraction of a second. ❤ from Northeast England ❤️

Hi Nick & Jodi, Kenneth Williams was a very intelligent comic actor & raconteur from the late `50`s through to the late `80`s. He had a very unusual & recognisable voice which he used to great effect. He was a mainstay of the (Carry On) films during that time. These films were based on the risque British Seaside Postcard Humour of I believe the Victorian or Edwardian era.

I knew someone who was helping train a foreign military, and during a live fire exercise they did a very poor job with a runaway 50 cal machine gun.I forget the exact model, but they tried kicking the feed off and it shot down the hill the UK forces were crawling up, right next to them. The person I knew reacted in the exact wrong way, and stood up waving his arms at them. He was very lucky, but that left him shaken for several hours. Wouldn't make that mistake again though.

The next to top chamber should be the empty one if this is the case. When the trigger on a revolver is pulled the barrel immediately starts to rotate so the " top centre" bullet is not the 1st to be fired but will be the last.

Kenneth Williams was and still is a national treasure. Comedy actor back in the day. Get him on any chatshow and be amazed at his anecdotes. A total one off.

Regarding the reality of war, that is why governments are moving from investing in troop numbers and rather into tech. A huge amount of conscripted soldiers can't bring themselves to kill the enemy so rather intentionally miss. On the opposite end of the scale a surprising amount of the more unpopular higher ups get "accidentally " killed in friendly fire compared to the less unpopular ones.

You’re not too far from Tombstone, AZ. The shootout at the OK Corral took all of 30 seconds. By the way, Wyatt Earp is not regarded all too well by the Tombstone historians… He was very much in it for himself and often tweaked the law to benefit his needs. His brother Morgan was the more established lawman in those parts at the time; he deputised Wyatt prior to events in 1881.

I am watching "Wyatt Earp the Legend" on Prime. So far the only accurate points are his name and the various towns, and his brothers.He never kills anyone. He is able to hit people at 50 yards - creasing the skull. Hilarious.

I was always told that the revolver pistols were very unreliable and not very accurate. Also no one really shot from the hips with them because after each pull of the trigger the hammer would have to be cocked back again. Hence why you see in westerns gunslingers "fanning" the mechanism with thier freehand. BTW did you know that the world's fastest draw was or still is held by a Brit. Lol

Some of the gun scenes you see in the films Nick are all crap you see a man running down the pavement or do you call it? Sidewalk? It’s about 300 yards and he’s taking down its crap The velocity of the bullet. Wardrop too quickly. I have been using guns for more than 50 years, so I do know a little bit about them. American history is very contrived, how many "movies" do you know - even those based upon actual events - came close to telling the story without a great deal of "artistic freedom" in its recreation? Many still believe "Roots" is factual. Never learn history from "movies" the "true story" claims are often a marketing scheme. _The events depicted in the movie Glory are essentially all historical, if given the expected Hollywood “flair.” With the exception of Robert Gould Shaw (played by Matthew Broderick), most of the major characters in the film are fictional, including Cary Elwes’ character_ As usual a story based on historical events...
