23:44 -- This whole bit never fails to make me laugh out loud, partly because of Mitchell's reaction. When he catapults forward in laughter after she goes, "Is that the sort of thing you're after?" I just lose it. 🤣

I agree, but I will warn be careful with what you “learn” on this show. Even the people at QI admit they get things wrong. They have even done an episode where they added points or taken points away to correct for previous mistakes in scoring.
@DerEchteBold Жыл бұрын
@@hollybigelow5337 Getting things wrong isn't too bad, it just happens, but sometimes they twist the facts a bit or leave out important details in order to make it funny, that's understandable cause it's for comedy but it's also quite fishy without clearly stating over and over that none of this is reliable information, because lots of people take it for that.
@hollybigelow5337 Жыл бұрын
@@DerEchteBold Yes, it is also true they often present the fact in what I would call a half-truth way to make it funnier. None of it bothers me as long as everyone knows this is primarily an entertainment show that is maybe 85% accurate. It only becomes a problem if people forget that and treat it as primarily an education show presented by a team of experts who are prioritizing accuracy over entertainment. Yes, even experts prioritizing accuracy will get things wrong, and fortunately QI is completely transparent that although they do a lot of research they are not employing experts in all of these fields and they are prioritizing entertainment, but I just have to regularly remind myself that everything I “learn” on this program should not be treated as anything else other than an interesting anecdote unless I have done the effort to solidly verify the fact with an independent source. That being said, I have been impressed both with their transparency about their accuracy and also with their commitment to still try to get things as accurate as possible even when they are prioritizing entertainment.
@DerEchteBold Жыл бұрын
@@hollybigelow5337 Well, you may call it transparency but you only find such an explanation if you actually search for it, so lots of people do take what's said on the show more serious than it is, you can see it here or there in the comment sections. What I meant was that the only truly honest thing would be to have clear statements about the possible inaccuracy of information at the start and end of each episode.
@hollybigelow5337 Жыл бұрын
@@DerEchteBold Maybe. I don’t know. Personally, the reason I know about it is specifically because they have mentioned it in several episodes, and it could get old having to hear the disclaimer every single episode, but I also admit I have been watching a very long time and a lot of those disclaimers go back to early episodes. I don’t personally believe the QI team is deliberately trying to hide it. I suspect like me that they remember all of the previous disclosures and assume by now that everybody knows. But I admit that although it would be a bit annoying to hear it on every episode, if so many people clearly don’t understand that fact it would be better to have the slight annoyance of a regular disclaimer on every episode than have perhaps millions of people relying too much on the information presented. However, let’s be realistic. Even with a disclaimer there will still be people who take every fact presented as gospel truth, and there also is no source of absolute truth (at least that I have found), so people really need to take ownership of their own knowledge and always be checking with multiple sources and regularly updating their information with the latest research for anything that actually matters or they will be at risk for believing and spreading misinformation. But I will still concede that although the program has already stated it is primarily entertainment and they aren’t experts in every field and although I believe people should take more ownership in questioning all sources of “knowledge,” it probably would be a good idea for them to start every single episode with some kind of disclaimer that although they do their best to be accurate they are not experts and are prioritizing entertainment over accuracy.
