My ex worked at Chester zoo, she told me a tree collapsing in a storm brought down a section of the lion enclosure's fence. Apparently one of the keepers came to work that morning and found a confused looking lion standing in the path in front of him. He just rolled his eyes and shooed it back into its den!

Years ago, I was working on a series of ads with John Noaks about keeping dogs on leads. We needed some scared sheep and other sheep sound effects. So, I knew a farmer, I grabbed my Nagra tape recorder, and off I went. I got lots of dog barking (from his dogs), and happily bleating sheep who were completely ignoring the dogs. But "scared sheep" there were none. Not until later when the sheep and their cute little lambs were herded into a big barn. "Ready?" asked the farmer, who then turned the light out. Suddenly, a hundred ewes could no longer see their lambs. You should have heard the racket! Mass panicking everywhere.

(1:36) Fun fact, in the book, "Will My Cat Eat My Eyeballs?" by Caitlin Doughty, she does outline that what Alan says is - in fact - true. After a few days, given your dead body isn't discovered and your cat can't get out or find something else to eat, they'll go after things like your eyelids, lips or cheeks - flesh that's looser and easier to get into if they're hungry enough. Nobody really asked, but hey, it's all quite interesting.

@@frankupton5821 In the same book, Caitlin actually mentions a case where an old woman's body was found dead from a stroke with multiple bite marks of varied severity, and it was discovered that the dog had resorted to biting it's owner, thinking she'd passed out, trying to rouse her. Relative intelligence aside, that dog definitely was concerned. Edit: Also, the answer is yes, dogs have also shown signs of exhibiting that same survivalist behaviour, it just seems to vary per breed.

Yep, sheep are ridiculous. I once spent a very entertaining half-hour or so watching a whole flock of sheep running chaotically from one side of their field to the other and back again, over and over. The reason? One sheep at the head of the flock did it randomly one time, noticed that all the other sheep followed him and, because he was an asshole, thought to himself "Hah! So... if I am truly King of The Sheep, these are my Loyal Subjects, and they will follow me to the ends of the earth! Let's try it out then..." I mean, you could practically see the thought process in his little woolly head, in the way he stared at them all afterwards, looked across to the opposite side of the field, back at all other sheep, and then charged off again. *He knew exactly what he was doing, and he was loving every second of it.*

David’s logic rants mixed with Holly’s weird sense of humour and anecdotes, resulting in Sandi trying not to piss herself laughing or just being shocked at Holly’s facts “What kind of world do you live in?, people pissing kettles etc…” lol. You get a town full of frightened, unfit for wild life predators, being haunted down and shot by police and army, you get bears sitting on outside units of air conditioners, you get a baffled hippo waking up on the main square and being herded back to his enclosure like a cow, you get a f$#ing Jumanji all over the f$#ing place.

We had 4 goats and 2 sheep and even the goats thought the sheep were stupid. There was one damned dog who would get out and chase them. The goats formed a phalanx with their horns out, toss him into the air if he got too close and know that someone else had him covered behind their back. The sheep would panic and run out of the middle until they ran into a fence and hurt themselves. The goats then adapted their strategy and herded the sheep into the shed, one would stand across the doorway to keep them in and the other 3 would face outwards to keep the dog away. I love goats - naughty but smart.

Yeah, there is an implication in the idea of counting sheep to help you drop off to sleep, that shepherds must have kept nodding off all the time. Because, like, who'd be counting sheep in the first place to even know this? Well, shepherds obviously. They're counting their flock to make sure that they're all there, and they haven't lost any of them. Which is basically their job, of course. And I'm thinking many shepherds would be found sleeping in their fields overnight. "Oy, mate. Wake up" "Oh, sorry. I was just counting the sheep, late at night and must have nodded off" So I reckon there's a subtle jibe against shepherds hidden in there. Like, "can't get to sleep? Well, just try counting sheep, like shepherds do, as they're always falling asleep on the job. The useless sods".

Gross story ahead please proceed with caution. I worked at an animal shelter for many years and we once got a sweet little Chihuahua in whose owner had passed away. About a week later I learned the real story of how the old man had gotten out of the shower and passed out bent over and naked on the bed. After days being left alone the Chihuahua began to eat the old man asshole first. It was a difficult story not to share with potential adopters when they'd let him lick their faces. 🤢

They should have used a real horse if they really wanted to model it.. My horse would have been too quick and distrustful to be surrounded like that. Horses and zebras bolt and jump when they think they are being cornered

But I know that would risk the safety of the horse and of people. I am just saying that catching a willing human is no training at all for a wild animal.

@@richard6440 humans were actually very good at catching animals, while they can run faster than us most don't tend to have good endurance, so a human could catch a horse by following it at walking speed, the animal will get stressed out and tired and the human can catch it
