Damo Mitchell - Lotus Nei Gong

Damo Mitchell - Lotus Nei Gong

Күн бұрын

Just a very short video today as Damo just came out of the hospital; you can still hear in his voice that he is under the weather.
In this short chat, he discusses why he wrote a post that stated 'don't receive energy-based therapies from a person who is physically or mentally unwell'. He explains why he holds this view, why he thinks therapists should strive to maintain their physical, energetic and mental health.

This applies to all modalities I think. My longtime teacher has said that practitioners need to be the embodiment of the possibilities of the medicine we are practicing. So if you are not embodying that potential, truly living it, then all you are doing is working your stuff out on your clients/patients/etc. It's serious stuff, and not a play-thing or entertainment as a lot of people treat it.

My clinical observation is that regular practitioners of reiki have no blood or qi. No Wei qi means no defense from taking on the entire planet's pathology. If you give all of your qi to every patient, you won't have any left to give anyone. Maintain your boundaries. Thank you for bringing this up.

Hi Damo, I'm only halfway through the video, but it's made me think of this while I've got the thought collected- I've practiced hypnosis both less seriously and more seriously for about 15 years, and I do have certifications. What I've observed the longer I've been involved, is that many practitioners seem to develop weird, obscure nagging cluster illnesses. Or they develop odd, almost pathologically introverted belief systems that don't seem to be good for them. And many of these people are skilled and talented, and good workers with the art. I can't help but feel this has something to do with it, and wish the spiritual aspect of things were a little more present in hypnosis today. Also, get well soon! You'll be in my thoughts!

When energy truly comes from some higher source - it does so spontaneously. If human volition is involved - that automatically adds some of practitioner’s energy.

Thank you for the information, very interesting, and I wish you have good recovery 🙏 I like your analogy "you are drawing from fumes in the tank" 🙂 I agree, the therapist must be more healthy then the patient, and it doesn't often seem like it is the case unfortunately.

To recharge chi you should fill yourself not only with usual chi but also with original chi or uan chi. Only in this case person would replenish all that he used.

I hope that the people that were upset with your common-sense post are not actively working as "energy healers". If someone were serious, and spent at least a decade a great teacher(s), they would understand what you were saying. Trying to work with patients that jumped from one ill energy worker to the other is becoming increasingly difficult, people are sharing a lot and shaking up a big jar of dirty water.

How very true, Damo! Usui, the founder of Reiki, died at 60 and his two children Fuji and Toshiko at 38 and 22 respectively. That information threw me when I learned about and slowed my exuberance towards 'healing' others. In addition to that, after 'healing' a family who was in a very bad way, I realised that I have also given the mild cold I had had at the time...that really caused me to take break from assisting others with their self-healing. I did, however, correct the cold thing via remote. Presently, I am somewhat wary of doing 'healing' work because of the deep grumbling sound of varying intensities that wakes up within me. Sometimes it is a bupping sound that grows and grows and dies down when I am done the process. And usually I am distracted by it...I really don't enjoy it. I am told to ignore it.

Moy Lin Shin founder of Doast Taiji (we don't need to go in the problems with what he created) died young, though I've heard from early students of his prowess with Qigong. Didn't rest, always pushed through.

@thewanderingapprentice Jesus Christ, we are told he died at age 33. Tomorrow and thereafter, there will be new people added to the Christianfold and so too followers of some of these healing art founders. The point is that precautions and preventive measures must be put in place to avoid unintended consequences. And that I believe is what Damo has just highlighted in his own unique way. I have no intention of diminishing nor trying to downplay the contributions of the pioneers precisely because by and through their mistakes, we are better equipped, hopefully, to do energy without harming ourselves or others in the process.

@@zimakzemu3652diminishing Moy wasn't my intention at all or saying that you were ging to. I just didn't want to hear the regular criticism that the society's members get from the Taiji Quan community. I've received training through a number of lineages of LHBA, one being through his.

@@thewanderingapprentice Mr Yeung, his chi gung teacher in Hong Kong, used to tell him off for leaving himself so drained. Apparently he always came back looking much better, but it wouldn't last. I heard a story about a guy who sat down next to him at a dinner and said something along the lines of "I want to do everything Mr Moy does". Apparently he said something like "are you sure about that, you'll knock 20 years off your life"
@thewanderingapprentice
@thewanderingapprentice 5 ай бұрын
@stumobile6848 my teacher said he went into a room where Moy was by himself in a seated posture, and he could hear Moy moving and massaging his insides loudly. I only tell this because I've heard my teacher guts moving and massaging numerous times, but with at least some external movement, so I know the method is real. The skills don't matter if you let go of balance I suppose. Some are servants to their vision and sacrifice for that purpose.

If one has learned how to mobilize the chi and start the fulfillment of the ldt. Would the clearing out of toxins start to happen naturally or is their further meditations one would have to start implementing? Thank you for the lesson.

Being a student of both your Internal Arts Academy and Chinese Medicine School makes me perhaps too impolitely curious why a mild infection would drive my teacher to take meds from a hospital. Sorry about that. No judgment. Such things are necessary sometimes. Just curious what the line is for you to take that kind of intervention.
