Jodi and Nick react to QI. In this clip, they discuss the animal you can eat without killing it. Most animals that you eat had to die for this to happen. This animal didn’t.

he also did a few America themed documentaries for the BBC. They are on KZbin. His most famous QI moment is in one of the first episodes, on Astronomy. It is Moon related and referred to many, many times later.

Not just Stone crabs can regenerate limbs (claws, legs) after moults, crabs in general can, but it takes several moults to get a reasonable limbs back. There is a legal size claws can be taken, below it, not. You can take both claws, but if you're ethical you'd only take one, (as they are mollusk specialists, so need to brake shells). One claw is typically bigger than the other, especially on non harvest ones, (that's the one typically taken). The pain part is debate, it said not as they naturally drop them when needed, but evidence says otherwise when the process is forced by humans, so there are places that has banned the practice.

There's a place in England called Walberswick. It's in the east of England, on the coast. Every year they used to have the British Crabbing Championship and you could buy a t-shirt saying "I caught crabs in Walberswick"😂

I once remember seeing on tv about 30yrs ago (give or take) a Michael Palin travelogue, where he was in a restaurant somewhere in China and their "house speciality" was snake served up skinless - but still alive. And this thing was on a platter writhing around, it must have been in unimaginable agony. I'm not veggie/vegan, but neither do I have any particular affection for snakes, but I wouldn't wish anything like that on one. As far as I'm concerned "live and let live." The Chinese have a notorious reputation in the number and variety of creatures they will consume (and how they consume it,) if it walks, flies, swims or slithers it's fair game. Sometimes I think they're responsible for a species becoming endangered because of their fanatical obsession with it for food or Chinese 'medicine.' I've admitted to not being a vegetarian, but at least in this country animals are farmed and slaughtered humanely.

Who would want to eat an octopus?? They are amazing creatures. Along with dolphins and possibly humans, although I have my doubts about humans, possibly the most intelligent creatures. It's like eating monkeys.

The crabs can bury themselves in the sand and filter feed. I think the chances of survival are pretty decent. But its pretty mean to say the least lol. I guess its better than killing them outright?

My first thought was humans because if you don’t eat for long enough, your body starts to consume itself but you don’t die when that happens.

Those that harvest crab arms have observed over generations that the crabs somehow survive without too much hazles otherwise the practice would have been stopped. I also know that there are more crabs in the world than there are human beings to eat them🤔So the crab 'crowd' is unshaken by the loss of arms by a few guys 😂

I think we have like 8 out of the top 10 most venomous species here in Australia.I'm not saying they're everywhere though. I've lived here all of my 43 years and only seen maybe 10 at the most. Usually they're more scared of you, they only really attack when threatened, like most animals I guess. Don't let that put you off visiting though

I've seen on other TV shows in the past... Where fishermen who catch Crabs in the US... Will simply remove just one of the Crabs Claws... And then immediately return it back into the Ocean... As they were only permitted to remove one Claw... So that whilst it's missing Claw was growing back... It could still defend itself as well as forage for food with the other Claw... But taking both Claws at the same time... Seems a little bit excessive in all fairness!.
