I've been binging the QI clips from America, and I have to say, at first I was slightly upset that Stephen left the show, but once Sandi has proven to be at least as good of a host as he was. Actually she might be even funnier than him. It's a real shame the BBC won't pay her as much money as Stephen got.
@oliviagreen74234 жыл бұрын
I went through the same adjustment period, I guess poor Sandi had to prove herself to me lol. She did, quickly and fully. As for the pay, you're absolutely correct, but then that's a pretty "normal" circumstance for women no matter what field they're in, athletes, performers, down to janitorial workers. The pay inequality needs to go the way of the dodo, no particular reason for it
@Delinae4 жыл бұрын
The pay gap here might be a bit more complicated. I know Sandi looms large in TV and culture, but I imagine a lot more people want Stephen's input into projects than Sandi, and thus a larger pay offer is one incentive to get Stephen to work on QI. The difference still sucks, but it's probably not just the executives looking at Sandi and seeing a woman and this subconsciously leads to a lower pay offer.
@oliviagreen74234 жыл бұрын
@@Delinae Yeah, who knows what all factored into her pay here, I just mentioned the pay gap as a general thing. Stephen is also higher class, knows more powerful people, has more clout and leverage. No way of knowing how that factored in either

On the night of the moon landing, our family stayed up late to watch. My aged grandmother, blind, had to have things explained to her. She'd been born in 1881, and kept saying, over and over, that God never intended man to be on the moon. His place was on earth and we were flying in the face of God to attempt it. Even after the echo of "That's one small step for man; one giant leap for mankind" had died away, she kept muttering to herself that, "It can't be; it can't be." Until the day she died, she could not reconcile the moon landing with what she'd been told as a little girl.
