Material sciences will be a great field to work hand-in-hand with quantum computing. We're doing pretty good as far as theory goes, but the actual materials and technology we have available is sorely lacking.

I'm Studying computer engineering right now. I've been taking interest in quantum computing and so far it is becoming clearer that I'll need to do a physics minor or secondary major (after finishing computer engineering) to get into it. Since Im looking at doing several things that are in the mix of physics and engineering options.

Bottom Line - find someone who understands Erwin Schrödinger’s original Wave Mechanics papers and his use of the Fundamental Lemma of the Calculus of Variations. Mathematics is the only source of ‘syntax’. Physics folks learn in gradual school from folks who do not understand mathematics. If you can’t do Theorem/Proof over and over again, how do you know, really know, your result is valid? Learn the syntax - Mathematics. Quantumy requires you to ‘pinch’ two points for the ‘vibration’ with Euler Lagrange and Kurt Gödel killed semantics… no . Otherwise, interesting. And, read Weinstock’s Dover Publication, The Calculus of Variations, Chapter 11 is the derivation of Schrödinger’s Equation from the Hamilton-Jacobi (edited) equations of classical physics a la Schrödinger. You will learn about ‘fractal sine functions’ (Bessel functions) and how a drum head vibrates based on initial conditions and such… more mathematics is all-ways better. It gets so dang beautiful you’re grinning like a fool (foole for Carlin fans). Quantumy is a syntactical choice. Choose wisely.

Of coz it has to be physics. If a computer scientist does not have strong QM knowledge, he could not go too far. But for a physics major student to learn computer science, it is super easy.

Physics isn't that hard to learn for a cs major either and we already have some elements included. my major is cs and I can choose to combine it with Physics classes (including QM). And everyone should decide for themselves, but the advantage of that combination is that you can find a job easier after University. At least in my country, it is much more difficult to do that with a Physics major. Nonetheless, it is important to be good at Physics, CS AND Mathematics to go in this field I suppose. But I'm no expert and still learning. :)

I don't understand the basics… for example, entangled particles… there have to be two, How do you know which one to choose?, like, which particles are entangled when choosing them to measure them, they say they can be photons, they take a photon, how? They put it in a jar, they take it a thousand kilometers away from the other photon, and they measure it?, and the other photon changes state a thousand kilometers away, the process doesn't make sense, I understand more the entanglement and not the process

Best major is gender studies, companies offer million dollar packages that's why US colleges started that

It takes two seconds to Google the median expected salary for a gender theory major… I can assure you the median graduate is not making millions. Almost no one goes into gender theory for the money. It’s an interesting and rich subject.

WOW ! She is a legend - landing a high profile job at IBM despite have zero first author journal publications. She has some conferences abstracts as first author and many co-authorships but nothing notable. How can we take her seriously as a scientist. She can be a good educator but there are many many better scientists than her in quantum science.

Computer science may often not be considered engineering because of a bit less required engineering math and physics curriculum, but each university may differ in meeting those learning objectives for each accredited program.
