That RAM is absolutely gunna go to waste if you just storing Plex movies and YT videos. You should consult with nerds before you spend all your hard earned cash on shit you won't use. It's definitely a nice setup tho for a small business solution running multiple VM's 👀

He bought QNAP branded RAM which is easily over twice as expensive as the other brands. Clearly money is not a concern of his.

The 128gigs of memory is a must for ZFS and video editing. buying from QNAP or synology is wasted money, as better brand name memory and hard drives are half the price from Samsung , Crucial. I plan to buy this unit in 2024 , waiting for the cash and a Thunderbolt 4 cards , as Thunderbolt 3 is slower than 10g Ethernet. The front RED port is a SATA port so you can attach a harddrive from your computer and dump it into the NAS at higher speed than 10g Ethernet. all in all excellent choice for this unit and QuTS Hero ZFS system. Excellent ! choice Bobby. I will be buying the 20Tb Exos Enterprise hard drives ( beasts of quality drives last 10 years easy ) and create one Zraid 2 possibly 3 for extreme safety , with Zraid 2 you use 80% of the volume, and 2 drives are par files , so you can have 2 hard drives fail at once and not loose one byte , the Zraid3 uses 3 drives and of course you could lose 3 drives and not lose a byte. cause I like big storage I will use 2. I have a Synology DS918+ , but I'm done with them , they are emulating Apple , with their new CRAP rules that ONLY their hard drives are ok (cost 2 times more for the same drive from Seagate the EXOS model , the best drives out there ) . QNAP is now the gangster of NAS's out there especially with ZFS a bullet proof and Ferrary of file systems
